you do realise that star wars is an overhyped piece of crap, only reason its so famous is because it blew minds when it came out back in the stone age what with its old man with magic light stick :OOOOOOOOOOOOO and girl with weird hairstyle "ZOMG SO FOOTOOORISTIC!!!!! " and lets be honest eih, episode 1 2 and 3 were pure crapola.

and everyone knows that Avatar is basically pocahontas + dances with wolves + all the weaponry one can find in a vid game today, what makes it amazing is not the storyline, but the packaging, a run of the mill(but of course awesome) story presented in all the splendor CG has to offer, and lets not forget, probably the awesomemmest movie to be presented in 3D.

so yeah, appreciated it for what it is, not what it isnt. k.

im not comparing Avatar to jesus's 2nd coming eih, im just saying stop b****ing bout how awful its gonna be without having seen it first and from the previews, its hard to deny the fact that it looks awesome.

and all the stuff bout star wars, was just to push your buttons tongue.gif
4 5 6 i appreciate alright, 1 2 3 i despise, well 2 and 3 mostly. smile.gif

if you wanna talk bout a big budget movie that was overhyped and failed to deliver, its gotta be the dark knight for me smile.gif

it was beautiful, a feast of colors for the eyes, and the 3d in the cinema made everything even better. but one drawback, the storyline was boring ><"
well not boring per se, more towards overly cliche'd. i mean, you'd think that if the guy is gonna blow 300mil on a movie he could at least write a better story.

and this doesnt even compare to star wars, what made star wars awesome was that it was a futuristic sci fi movie which was very original for its time, avatar on the hand, besides its technological advances did not present an original and predictable albeit entertaining story. i got bored waiting for the movie to end ><"

anyways, gonna catch it in imax 3d next in a couple of weeks, just to see if theres a big diff between imax 3d and real3d.

hahaha yeah, the dialogue felt weak and uninspired, and com[pared to 300, the inspirational speech was meh. and i cried during alien, i cried during titanic, i shed manly tears as leonidas took the spear in his chest and i cried in T2 when arnie melted himself at the end, but here, i didnt cry, and i hate the fact that i didnt cry sad.gif

especially for a movie thats so goddamn beautiful, the story didnt touch me one bit, well cept maybe for the time when hometree fell, but that was leaning more towards shock as i just couldnt imagine a future where humans would think that genocide was ok, especially with our history. the story just felt weak at that part, as to why they would so wantonly and callously cause that much destruction on the whim of one man.

ps: cant wait for the day they make a mass effect movie using the same technology, hopefully they will, waaaaay cooler story anyway XD tongue.gif

Sorry but no dice. That movie wasted a good premise on wanton action scenes, albeit some really good action scenes. That movie was even less original than Avatar.
*
how was district 9 less original @>@ and besides, cared waaaaaay more for the characters than i did in avatar, althought yeah, doubt its the movie of the year.

Despite the obvious flaws in this movie, I enjoyed it more than any other movie I've seen this year.

This is how good Avatar is. The flaws doesn't matter to me(the so-so story, sometimes boring dialogues, sometimes too preachy, some questionables actions and motives that doesn't fit, bad acting from few of the actors/actresses.) The effects gave life to this story, made it artsy and at least it has a decent enough story. So unlike transformers where the story and effects are so terrible.
*
and therein lies the problem, overlooking the flaws cos of its so pretty. imagine going out with a girl who's so f***ing hot she puts megan fox to shame, you would get so caught up in her beauty that you overlook her personality, her vacuous vapid absoolutely boring and predictable personality, her looks excite you at first, but as you get to know her better you find out that she has no deapth, no soul, doesnt shock, amuse or tingle ur senses as much as you initlly expected it to. the excitement ceases. you realise that she has nothing to offer besides a pretty face. you leave.

tis a pity that most guys think with their dicks and would stay and fall in love with the pretty face and not consider the personality sad.gif

Funny how u guys arguing which movie is better as though you are the creator of the movie and if it sucks ,it means so much to you... doh.gif  doh.gif
*
there are 24 hours day, and for some of em we have nbtd, thus we fill it with pointless arguments over the internet discussing our passions, giving our opinions(cos the internet is probably the only venue where people give a shit bout a persons opinions nowadays) and generally talking cock.

what i dont get is why people like you loooooooooove to call us out using "arguing as if ur the creator and it means so much to you" , we get it, we're just the end consumer, the director will never know or give a shit about what we think and how we feel would have no significance whatsoever on his/her life. so yeah, if youre not gonna join in and are just gonna be a buzzkill, eff off ><"

You're talking about suspense, but Avatar is not chiefly about suspense, although it has it as well. Just let the world of Pandora envelope you, do not attempt to notice the story mechanics, and let Pandora itself tell the story. Everything just flows from there. At least that's how I view it.
*
the world of pandora enveloped me only initially, and maybe a lil bit in the middle, the tiger thingy chase scene and the bird taming scene, ouh and which the taming of the gigantic pterodactyl scene was longer; would have been f***ing awesome.

personally it was hard not to notice the story mechanics cos the acting and the storyline felt lacking.

will also give it a second viewing to see if my opinion changes XD
gotta get better seats this time XD

Haha nevermind la... it's fine if you don't like the movie. I dont want to be accused of trying to imprint my experience on others.  laugh.gif

tis kay, i enjoy pointless/endless arguments over the internet where both sides(one being mine) are stubborn bastards who will never change their mind.

where is the best seat for 3d ?
*
lower middle for the full effect, dont sit on top, the bigger the screen seems to you the better.

This movie is boring, but enjoyed the CGI though.

Dont understand the plot ,why they create  AVATAR anyway but in the end they just crush the native and why they cannot teach/educate the avatar in human form????
*
if im not mistaken its cos they wanted to gain their trust so that they would move out of their home, and they use avatar instead of human form probably cos its easier to move around pandora in avatar form, and also it wopuld be easier to communicate with the na'vi if they looked like them.
