I would agree with you. The quantity of tickets sold would be more accurate. Not the overall gross income. 20 years from now the ticket price would surely be a lot higher than now and if some movies had surpass Avatar by just 2,3 million, do u think that would do justice to Avatar? it is not a good comparison but people also like to refer to list of all time box office base on the amount it earn in box office, it is very unfair to compare new movie to movie made decades ago due to ticket price.
Don't get me wrong...Avatar is a great, ground breaking movie. Watched it twice.. but so does star wars the first episodes in its era was the movie that revolutionize the film making technology thanks to Lucas.
