he got Battle Angel coming next. yea... True Lies 2 will be fun.
I think i read somewhere that this new 3D technology for Avatar require a special 3D camera. again, i wonder if we are getting that. watching the trailer is nice if you are into sci-fi/animation stuff but may not appeal to everyone. |

juz back from the screening.
this movie is more than juz about plot and CGI, on top of all those is the experience. the 3D here is not those in-yer-face 3D. u know... things flying straight at you. There are scene where you just feel like you are sitting at the back row among the action. The forest scene is really amazing. feel like you are immerse in the forest. I am not so totally over the top with the CGI part cause in these days, given loads of money (i read Avatar cost upward USD200mil) and a reputable director, the CGI will be good. What i came out amazed is the 3D experience. I particularly like the forest scenes. Its like no alien planet i have seen before. word of advice for those with glasses, when you go to this movie come December, wear contact lenses. Putting on 2 glasses for hours will not be comfortable. The trailer screen at the end of the 15min also comes in 3D. |

QUOTE(snowcrash @ Aug 22 2009, 04:46 PM) it won't fit nicely la. this Dolby 3D glasses is so much better then the 3D glasses i got when i watch spy kid 3D years back. Its oni 15min so i went with my glasses. its ok to me but i can imagine over an hours wearing that won't feel nice to me.The trailer in the end though is 3D but i don't get the overwhelmed feeling. probably because its a trailer and every scenes are fast and no continuity. from now until Dec, i'll juz enjoy the 1080p teaser trailer to wet my appetite. |

George Lucas star wars prequels are nothing more than just CGI fest... that i kenot agree more. ep3 spend 2hr with sum senseless CGI and then suddenly in the last 20min or so, the whole story unveil.
I hope Avatar is not just another CGI fest with no substance. I kinda think watching Avatar is more than just watching a movie or for the matter a 3D movie... I not gonna be "i've watched Avatar" but "I have experienced Avatar". |

QUOTE(incognito @ Aug 24 2009, 08:43 PM) the trailer looks quite promising, but i dont get the hype... cameron promised photo realistic CGI but judging from what i'm seeing, it's no better than any generic ILM work from lucas/zemeckis. the same trailer was screen at the end of the 16min screening. However, the trailer in 3D doesn't really show the experience. I figure that's the reason why for Avatar a different kinda promotion. The 16min screening introduce the Cameron style of 3D which is different from the usual 3D. |

bullcart... bullcart....
The Curve Platinum hall is NOT 3D... i pay RM40 for the ticket. go to the door me: mana tu 3D glasses? bouncer: sini takde 3D bang. kena gi cinema biasa baru ada 3D. sini normal aje me (inside my heart): $#*%3 my bad... i buy ticket without checking. Without 3D this is juzt an OK movie. all expected. there are part where you can see the CG is really fake. how i rate the movie (w/o 3D): 6/10. y? nothing fantastic abt the story. i am still mad with myself for buying the non-3D ticket. |

finally i saw the 3D version. Having seen the 2D first (not by choice...), its a whole new experience. The 2D is just another movie fill with CGI. I rate the 2D 6/10.
now the 3D... its not like everything is super real in 3D. take the Hallelujah mountain, it still look fake in 3D. the forest is alive in 3D, the battle scene is very engaging, heck... anything you can imagine that is in dimension probably will look in dimension. its not so much of watching a movie but its experiencing a movie. for a fact, i can say that the 2D is about 2sec longer than the 3D. the "mating" was off in 3D. you get to see like 2sec of them mating in 2D. for a movie (in conventional sense), i still give it a 6/10. there is nothing super fantastic. its like watching the sci-fi version of Dances with Wolves. However, for the experience i'll give it a perfect 10. btw, watching the 2D first does have the advantage. I know the story, i concentrate enjoying the 3D effect. |

QUOTE(Calvin871989 @ Dec 25 2009, 03:07 AM) Cameroon is known to be a arrogant snobish guy. He got a well-known run-in with his pinewood studio crew while filming Aliens. The relationship was so hostile at the end of the shot, Cameroon toast them and call them B*****D. I think Kate Winslet say something like she will not work with Cameroon again. |

i just remember another scene in 2D that was cut from 3D. The scene where Jack choses his Ikran. the scene in 3D start with them climbing the Hallelujah mountain. The 2D show more of them running between the rocks.
why 2D got more scene? |
