The only movie that almost can beat titanic  for worldwide, aredy USD1.6bil and counting, just 200mil more to level with titanic... maybe can beat it... go AVATAR...

From my view, just wanna share. This movie is not for the people that wanna powerfull plot, like 'silence of the lamb', 'the Davincci code' or others. This movie just a straight forward plot, 1 group of people wanna take other group of people(in avatar case, alien) land for their gold or mineral..(just like pocahontas)... but what i wanna say is how they tell the story, with new world, with new alien that have a heart better than some greedy human.

This movie is straight forward. Just feel how the alien being forced out of their home and how 1 human trying to help them, lead them to victory against greedy human..If you watch this movie, dont expect for unexpected plot...just go with the flow of the movie then you will know what a drama it was..... just like titanic, simple story line, simple plot, a loving couple in a sinking ship.... but the main thing that is how much love in it for each other..like jake sully love for the omaticaya and neytiri........ love story truly can take the world heart....

Agreed it's simple like Titanic, like a loving couple in a sinking ship as you said. This time it's about the same, just in a different scenario. Also, the making of this film involved really state of the art technologies... Should see the making of and also some 3rd party behind the scenes vids, the type of cameras, censors, and graphic technology they use is really epic...

Again, in every movie, there will be audiences that really enjoy it, and there will be some people who really have complicated wiring in their brains, they tend to look at too many subjects when viewing a film, eg, the plot, the technical aspect, etc etc. In my opinion, a movie should be watched just like that. If you enjoyed it, it was a good movie. But if you start to find things to complain on here and there, of course you wouldn't enjoy it, then you blame the director, the script writer, etc etc ...

And of course if you like a certain "genre" of film, when you switch to another genre because people say it's awesome, of course you will tend to go against the crowd and find faults here and there because it's actually not your "type" of film. Just like a 50 year old uncle who likes Air Supply is being told by many youngsters that Lady Gaga is awesome... he listens to it, and well, starts criticizing it. eg, oh this song has a nice beat, but the lyrics are so shallow, the instruments are so hard to hear etc etc....

Nevertheless, these people are just the small minority! Look at the box office gross..... rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Development on Avatar began in 1994, when Cameron wrote an 80-page scriptment for the film.[7] Filming was supposed to take place after the completion of Titanic, for a planned release in 1999, but according to Cameron, the technology was not yet available to portray his vision of the film.[8][9] Work on the language for the film's extraterrestrial race began in summer 2005, and Cameron began developing the script and fictional universe in early 2006.
