Jake Sully was send to study and persuade the 'locals' about the mining. Later he finally find out the answer, the bad guy found his video log. The answer is impossible ... no way to persuade. If today there's an alien come to earth and ask politely can I destroy your planet, will you smile and say please proceed?
Jake found out mining in that place will only mean destroy that planet. How to persuade ppl to let their mother planet die?
