also need to consider last time much less people can afford to go to the movie and there is less number of movie theather arround. in the last few year the ticket price have increase quite a bit so Avatar is still far behind the number of the ticket sold compare with titanic.

it is not a good comparison but people also like to refer to list of all time box office base on the amount it earn in box office, it is very unfair to compare new movie to movie made decades ago due to ticket price.

important thing is: was it worth it?

technical crew members have already begun to be hired for Avatar 2.

some behind the scenes technical crew have signed on for three to five year contracts, just in case it runs long.

anyone watched avatar 3d in 2nd row? just book in 2nd row , dunno how is it, my first time 3d movie....

Will it soon be time for 20th Century Fox’s “Avatar” to surrender the 3-D stage? Walt Disney Studios certainly thinks so.

looks like avatar have it limits too, or not ? but there's always a chance of luck as well me thinks. 3D still on or off, what you say ?

News Corp. in Early Talks with Cameron for Avatar 2

News Corporation chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch said during his quarterly earnings call on Tuesday that the company, which owns 20th Century Fox, is in early talks with James Cameron about a possible Avatar sequel.

Cameron "has ideas about it," he said, adding: "We will be pushing one." The Hollywood Reporter says Murdoch cautioned analysts not to "hold your breath for another one" in a possible reference to Cameron projects often taking a long time to come to fruition.

News Corporation deputy chairman, president and COO Chase Carey interjected that both sides want to make another movie.

Asked about the Blu-ray and DVD release, Murdoch said Avatar will be released during the company's current fiscal year, which ends June 30. He added that it won't be a 3D release as the technology isn't developed enough yet. A 3D release may be possible "down the road," Carey said.
