also need to consider last time much less people can afford to go to the movie and there is less number of movie theather arround. in the last few year the ticket price have increase quite a bit so Avatar is still far behind the number of the ticket sold compare with titanic.

it is not a good comparison but people also like to refer to list of all time box office base on the amount it earn in box office, it is very unfair to compare new movie to movie made decades ago due to ticket price.
*
I would agree with you. The quantity of tickets sold would be more accurate. Not the overall gross income. 20 years from now the ticket price would surely be a lot higher than now and if some movies had surpass Avatar by just 2,3 million, do u think that would do justice to Avatar?

Don't get me wrong...Avatar is a great, ground breaking movie. Watched it twice.. but so does star wars the first episodes in its era was the movie that revolutionize the film making technology thanks to Lucas.

Is Avatar 2 Gearing Up For Pre-Production?

technical crew members have already begun to be hired for Avatar 2.

some behind the scenes technical crew have signed on for three to five year contracts, just in case it runs long.

I cant beliebe its still so damn hard to get tickets for this movie! 7 weeks already lah!

Btw, I've been listening to the score a lot the past week. Friggin amazing. Gathering All The Na'vi Clans For Battle and War... ahhhh. The Leona Lewis song is terrible.

Huh? Really? I thought "I See You" by Leona Lewis was quite amazing... enchantingly beautiful with the score and all...

I dont like it. Every time I listen to the score... and the song comes on, I have this massive urge to just shut it off. I do not resist the urge. The highly post-processed sound of it ruins an otherwise totally awesome soundtrack. It just doesnt blend well with the rest of the score.

watched Avatar earlier and 3D last week and i think this time in 3D get to grab many tiny tiny details and even clearer picture on the surroundings and etc. One note is try to get the center seats for 3D ... rear rows are too far .. cant fully indulge into the 3D scene .. recommended!!! go try out 3D .. do note that 3D doesnt have subtitles ..

looks like avatar have it limits too, or not ? but there's always a chance of luck as well me thinks. 3D still on or off, what you say ?

Will it soon be time for 20th Century Fox’s “Avatar” to surrender the 3-D stage? Walt Disney Studios certainly thinks so.

Alice in the wonderland will flop trust me....
People tend to compare when both films going to be released so near, and both also in 3D format..

News Corp. in Early Talks with Cameron for Avatar 2

News Corporation chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch said during his quarterly earnings call on Tuesday that the company, which owns 20th Century Fox, is in early talks with James Cameron about a possible Avatar sequel.

Cameron "has ideas about it," he said, adding: "We will be pushing one." The Hollywood Reporter says Murdoch cautioned analysts not to "hold your breath for another one" in a possible reference to Cameron projects often taking a long time to come to fruition.

News Corporation deputy chairman, president and COO Chase Carey interjected that both sides want to make another movie.

Asked about the Blu-ray and DVD release, Murdoch said Avatar will be released during the company's current fiscal year, which ends June 30. He added that it won't be a 3D release as the technology isn't developed enough yet. A 3D release may be possible "down the road," Carey said.
