I paid $16,000 USD and purchased it from a private seller. The car had ~67K miles on it at the time of purchase, I've already managed to put on a couple hundred more. Premium unleaded is expensive stuff..

Yeah, the plastic housing up front is damaged a bit. I'm not going to bother getting it fixed right now because it doesn't look like it's terribly easy to access. This car came out of my father's pocket, but don't assume that I'm riding entirely off of daddy's money. I'm currently employed as a full time intern with an exploration and production company in town and I'm getting paid $21 an hour. Bear in mind that I've just completed my freshman year in college. Yes, I have the money to keep my ass covered.

In Malaysia it seems, it is considered "special" for someone at the age of 19 to drive a BMW or a Mercedes.

If im 19 and im rich i wont buy this car..look too mature for me.

If you're 19 but have a mature personality, you will go for this (or something like it).

my dad sometimes work in the USA oso said things in USA like foods,clothes,shoes,cars,etc all very cheap compare to malaysia...he say earn there 1 month 3k USD can get u a damn nice ride or anything i listed ad...here,in msia if u earn RM3k u hardly pay for new gen2 cps or waja cps...

It's abnormal for a freshman to be making $21 an hour, and few freshmen are capable of landing paying internships. Suffice it to say, some industries are more lucrative than others from the get-go. Yes, US wages are high, but cost of living expenses are higher here than they are in Malaysia.

Thanks for the compliments on the car. I'm thinking about tinting the windows once some money comes my way.

malaysia, degree starting salary = RM 1800,00. to convert to hourly pay = RM 1800,00/27 days (approx) = RM 66.66 a day. RM 66.66/9 hours a day (base on 8 am - 5 pm duration) = RM 7.40 an hour --> convert to US Dollar = USD
2.29733 an hour.

Exactly. But why people do this is because they want their car to stand out or get noticed to this audience. If one posts a pic of his or her car in that thread, only 3 or 4 comments will be made about it, and someone else then posts their ride, people will comment on that one next, etc.

When someone starts a thread with a pic of his or her car, all comments will be about the TS's car, let it be positive or negative.

wow.. impressive. If u were in Msia.. i bet owning a MYVI also a pain in the ass.

I wanted something that was refined and clean. I sure as hell wouldn't mind driving a Corvette but they're far too 'loud' for my tastes.

E46 maintenance isn't so bad. There are a few common issues with the E46, though. For example, it's common for the taillights to display an intermittent bulb out indicator on the dash over time due to a faulty connector. I've done some small work on the car though. Might post more pictures as I make modifications to the car.

Hmm 330i = 3 litre? Does it consume a lot of petrol?

Yeah, the 330i is powered by a 3.0L I-6. My fuel economy is about the same as my friend's Accord. It's really a matter of how hard you drive the car. I'm averaging only 19MPG because I drive mostly city miles, but you can easily hit 30MPG on the highway.
