1st impression... real solid build with the metal frame and quite a strong sliding mechanism, spring type. and damn it is slim.. and the red colour is quite nice, though i personally think black will be better colour for guys... well typical.
Then off to switching on, there is a slide button that act as on/off button. slide and hold it for 2-3 seconds and the KF510 is switching on. Starting up takes around 20sec or so... It greets me with some animation and follow by the touch sensitive display.
I tried the touch sensitive and i find it really smooth if i were to describe it. but sometime it does too smooth job until select wrong icon.
Usually, LG phone suffers lag when accessing menu or memory card, but 1gb shows no problem and access into phone menu is a breeze. So off i go to messaging, which i think is one of the most important feature for all phone users.
Messaging is more or less same with nokia except when changing predicition words, you tap down arrow instead of "*". Since it is touch sensitive, you might find it a bit hard at 1st, but 1 min later, i am okay with it and can type sms fairly fast. i used to nokia and qwerty PDA keyboard.
Call in and out is good and clear depending on coverage. sadly it isnt 3g, so cant test out the EDGE speed.
For MP3 Playing, it is the same as the old ones which you cant minimize the player. Meaning you cant listen mp3 and sms at the same time. Pity, this features come in handy for some users. But one thing for sure, it is as loud as KF600. It is good because it means the alarm is going to wake you up; unless ur tone is soft. those pre-installed ringtone are good and able to listen in the noisy condition.
Picture snapping, well, just say it does its job. But dont fight with K810i because KF510 isnt camera oriented phone. Its autofocus does the job, but early review said it is not autofocusing well. So i guess the commercial units now with working autofocus. quality is good, but i didnt BT out the pics i took (i forgot
Other than that, i find this phone is quite heavy due to metal frame, but i am satisfy with its build. The only grief is that its non-3g phone, as i usually surf the web on the go. I didnt further explore the phone as it is not the demo unit from the launch (its already over and LYP is doing plasma & LCD tv roadshow). My friend didnt know it is scratch resistant, and i cant test it because he doesnt allow me to scratch it. But of coz i did try to scratch it when i am at his back
that is my hand on review.. please enlighten me if i am wrong at certain parts.
and the phone in LYP is selling at least RM1100-1199. My friend even sold it once for RM1.3k...
