hi guys, currently this is my car ICE setup.

HU: Kenwood KDC-5320
2ch 1000watts AMP
12inch SubWoofer not sure of the rating but standard single magnet bought for around 250ish
Rockford Fosgate T1693C 6x9" speakers

Right now i dont have a crossover installed.

My next upgrade, I want a more powerful bass effect from the ICE. I will sell off the subwoofer i have and probably buy 12" double magnet one...
I know i may need another amp for better setup.
Dont hav much budget actually, probably sell off the woofer i hv and top up about RM300....is it possible???

anyhow, would like to hear suggestions from you ppl on the prices and wut do i need extra....no worries on the budget, could add a lil more if it gives a better setup.

thankss....

try unplugging the 6*9 speakers and see if it improves yr bass....

6*9 speakers tend to kill the bass from the woofer. they sort of cancel out each other.

my guess is ur woofer is fine... but u just made the mistake of installing a 6*9 speaker along with a subwoofer.

madman suggested u to disconnect the 6x9 to see whether u can feel more bass or not...

and 2 woofers doesn't mean it's louder than 1

sometimes it's the sub enclosure, a poorly built enclosure will have a very bad effect on bass reproduction. I had this problem once.

6x9 will spoiled the bass, plus somemore got tweeter and if you turn louder will damage it.

a single woofer double coil already can give you enough bass if powered by a monoblock amp, which you can later add on more woofer. what you should notice that, wooder is placed in the trunk, not inside the car, that's why you feel lack of bass.

guys, pls suggest this guy a good component set that can produce a good sound with good bass.

Wow Bass-Head setting; depends on the car you're installing it into, if your amp is confirm to be able to pump 1000W rms @ 4ohms or probably 500W X 2, my suggestion is to install 2pcs 15" woofer within a full enclosure & get a normal entry model 6.5"/tweeter component set for the front costing about $300 to $350; get ready to techno-rock than.

cos i love deep bass, and this 2 types of enclosure gives me enough satisfaction. Ported moves more air and bandpass = ported + closed, clean, tight and deep bass. I tried using closed enclosure, it sounded same like my 6x9" in a ported enclosure, and that was a pair of 12" subs. I dunno how much it may cost for making a twin 15" enclosure, depends on size and volume, basically should be around 300 or so. a twin 12" is around 250.

woofer does play a role, but in most cases ( according to my experience ), ported and bandpass produces deeper bass, and closed produces tighter and cleaner bass. i read an article, bandpass is something like ported + closed. This sub enclosure is designed to filter out unwanted noise(dunno wat it means) , so that the sound produced is cleaner and deep.
