Yup , i also saw it even before the updates, it also known as jagged-edge "jaggies" or aliasing.

I feel you man thats bcoz i felt like that whenever i'm updating PSP's custom firmwares....

My guess, only games with the latest patch can do that...
If i not wrong games like Burnout Paradise and PAIN can do that right now...
