May I know normally for a houseowner, what is your budget for the alarm system?

If let say for a branded alarm system from US, which can give you all the feature that you need for alarm, and also can automate the light for your house. what kind of price range that you willing to spend for it?

I am doing a survey on malaysia market and see what kind of system that I should bring in. Hope someone can share their opinion and maybe experience here...thank you. smile.gif

Updated:
If let say there is an alarm system (wireless) selling at price around RM750-1000. suitable for DIYer because can save cost on the wiring and so on. will it be consider a good product? no hacking or casing running all around your house, and the alarm can perform the normal feature like call in call out. all sensor point are wireless.

because the sole distributor for this wireless alarm system is one of my fren and he offer me a very good price, so i am thinking whether should i start selling it or not. need to collect feed back from all the house owner here 1st biggrin.gif

if everything can be settled for $1.5k, that'll make me very happy.

single storey terrace house installation price from few hundred up to thousand plus also...depend on the house size, and also you want to run the casing to cover the wire or you want to conceal it.

but i know some ppl out there in the market, they can install alarm system at price about thousand plus (product + installation). i think they are using the cheap china alarm panel...but they are really making a very low profit from it. alot of them are practising "hit and run"...after hand over the job, collect money, then dissepear...no more after sales support. because their margin profit not enough to cover the after sales service.

i know some of them too...this is a real story based on what they told me.

btw, you looking for alarm system?

haha...yup...normally what i propose for my client is a entry level HAI home automation panel, it come with 8 zones alarm. then I will propose 8 lighting point (automated). normally will connect to the garden light, and also the main area light inside the house.

then what I program is that the garden light will light up at 7pm, and off at 1am to save energy. but if there is any alarm trigger, all the light will on so that you can see clearly if there is any intruder.

and let say mid night after 1 am, you drive your car home and you on the autogate, the garden light will on too because i will program the autogate to trigger the light.

actually all this can be done by the system which cost around 5-6k...

i know there are some ppl out there using the normal alarm panel, then connect it to the relay box and perform the lighting control, but this is not a good way because the relax box is not reliable and you need to run additional wire for the lighting.

If I was living in a link house my budget would be about 2k.

For the kind of higher end system you think of importing I think need to target semi-d or bungalow owners.
