What OS are u using on the compaq notebook? Ok first uninstall the itunes and reboot your laptop. Download a new one from here ... http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ . Install it and reboot again. This is to make sure everything installed properly. Now open the itunes. U will see a T&C page ... clilck agree. itunes should start. If it does not ... open taks manager (ctrl+alt+del) and look in the process. Find itunes.exe and end the process. Click itunes again and see.

Ahem windows is not the factor. When u say cant open means nothing pops up? Try opening the task manager like i said and look in the process. Do u see itunes.exe?

Did u do what i ask u to do? End the process for itunes.exe then uninstall itunes. Reboot and install back with a new copy u download (afraid the one u download got corrupted or something). Reboot again. Then run itunes. U should be prompt with the license and agrement thingy. If still happen then end the itunes.exe process and open it up again.
