my streamyx 512kbps has dropped down to 32kbps!!! i check at the dsl status on both modem (i got 2 set) and still the downstream down to 32kbps? the line is pretty clean i dont hear any noise on my phone and my splitter is ok. i bypass the splitter also the same. from our experience is it modem fault or streamyx fault?

normally i got something like this
Us Rate (Kbps) 512
Ds Rate (Kbps) 1536 (Lowest is 32kbps)
US Margin 26
DS Margin 20 (Highest is 31 and lowest <5)

are they trying to capped my 512 kbps connection? or due to faulty telekom line (rust/oxidized), faulty modem (got 2 modem showed the same thing). it is like after sometime, my speed degrades to the lowest 32kbps and sometimes N/A.

normally what i do is, i open the line white box (not splitter, but same shape/size) and short circuit the 2 telekom wires. after that my connection resumes to normal and fast speed. what do you think with my technique? any one tried before? 9 out of 10 i used this short circuited thing works and bring back my connection to life

o.o what you mean by "back to alive"? more faster then before? maybe u do that and the dslam we connect to shortcircuit? and couse the probelm ? o.0

if i do test i wont get more then 800kbps downlaod and  300 uplod lol... my area was one of teh first few to get stremyx when it was first launch. at least some of you get 1.5mbit download and 512 upload,

what i get only 1mbit and 384kbps upload
*
u will see the normal white box which is similar to the splitter. open it you will find the 2 telekom wire, in my case the wire is black and the copper is kinda stiff. i just took a metal (like a key) and shorted between them. to my suprise the SNR from 4-5 jumped to 31 and my data rate from as low as 32kbps resumed back to 1536 (512 kbps package).

instead of reset/on/off my adsl modem, i found out that short circuited the 2 telekom wire worked better biggrin.gif

Now I'm having a very lousy connection
Once I opened the BT without start any of the download task then the ping all of it will be request timed out from on top until below sad.gif
What should I do?
I've complained to streamyx and they said it is server port problem and will get the technician to settle it,but it has been 1 week without any differences

1st time i heard such solution...
maybe u can try direct to the electricity...to short circuit and spoil other phone...better connection for u maybe :-p

put it to 240V 50hz is too much i guess tongue.gif . might later on all the telekom line nearby hangus already. i think by short circuit it might somehow 'reset' the dslam. i dunno just a guess only.

how about mine? terrible line noise i guess. but i dont hear any noise/cracking/buzzing sound in my phone though

Full speed 512 package...but getting slower and lag in response. SNR only 10. manage to surf but laggy

Shiat performance at 32kbps. slower than your average dialup vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif SNR higher but 32kbps. WTF!!!

short circuit it and done. resume back to normal.speedy connection. not sure how long it last biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

few minutes later, the SNR dropped to 10 vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

so need some expert opinion here. my line to much noise or what. all connection by pass splitter

my downstream snr margin oso not constant. when connected, it is 31 and very fast, it will drop to 27~28. then it will keep on dropping till as low as 11. but afterward it will raise up again. thinking to try ur way, but which box u refer to? any picture? thanks
*
as long as u can see the 2 copper wire of telekom line u can shorted it. the best at the box. its the same size like your splitter but only 1 RJ11 socket only. open the clips u will see black (in my case) telekom wire with its stiff copper. try to short it with metal object. i think somehow i manage to reset the DSLAM tongue.gif tongue.gif not sure though..

be sure u disconnect the modem line or otherwise u might short circuit ur own ADSL by accident. which i assume bad...

512 kbp/s or 1 mbp/s package?
*
mine 512kbps. 1536 is just numbers or theoritical limit i guess. like my friend 512 package but showed 7122kbps (7.12 mbps) but speedtest still at 512. right now surf at full speed. later on or tomorrow surely dropped again at 32kbps.

finally I found that what make my snr margin fluctuate all the times. when I connect the phone line from the socket to the modem directly, the snr margin only fluctuate between 26~27. but when I connect back to the sliptter, the problem happened. but I dont think is the sliptter faulty since I got another spare sliptter to backup, and still same. any other solution?
*
the splitter might not be faulty but the internal resistance in that splitter might degrade some performance. using shortest cable as possible might help abit.

shortest cable? which cable you refer to?

I got both ZTE and D-Links splitter. The ZTE is around 4 yr old but the D-Links only 2 weeks old, comes with the DSL-520T modem that I bought earlier.
*
any cable. telekom line or the adsl or both. longer cable = more attenuation. sometimes the socket or pins get oxidized due to age. need to clean up as well

i checked modem status always got DC. DSL Carrier Down many times in 1 hour. can say about 10-14 times. i change to new splitter, new cable line, tmnet fault?

right now after short circuit the telekom line again. i got good SNR around 23-26. i bet later on it drops to down low to <5 and 0 sometimes. the dsl light always blinking since then.
