Connections has been lame lately. I even have to log into my modem and look at the speed before I connect to Streamyx. Sometimes I get less than 700Kbps with my 1Mbps package. I have to disconnect the phone line, connect it back again and let my modem to negotiate again for attempt to get a higher link speed.

192.168.1.1 is the modem's site for Aztech DSL600E (Username/password is admin for both user/pass). As for the IP, 60.52 is the best for Genting Klang, Setapak.

I could get 60.50, 60.51, 60.52, 60.53 and 118.101. All of them sucked except 60.52 . I'm staying in Genting Court.

I didn't even bother applying for 4Mbps package because I can't even get full 100KB/s download with my current 1Mbps package

eh...why change telephone line wire by non tm ppl? isit house phone wire? cost how much ya? isit totally change all phone line that connect from outside into ur house? isit better now wif new wire?
Don't use long phone lines, use long RJ-45 cables instead. I was having lots of DSL link problem when I used a long phone line. It's also hard for me to get full 1Mbps using this setup. Then I moved my ADSL modem to near the phone socket and solved the problem by connecting my computer to the modem using long RJ-45 cable. That will help a bit for the signal problem.

Still, many sites are running slow.

RJ-45 (CAT5) is a regular network cable. You also use this cable to connect to ADSL ethernet modem. You use RJ-11 cable to connect to a phone or modem's phone port.

Well, I had this idea after Prasys stated that you get better connection if you stay near a DSLAM. Thank him instead. I was just sharing what I did. hehehe

You got the point here. With your permission , I am going to use your tips to come up with this tongue.gif. So length of the phone line is also one of the factor. I'll come up with a new thread (Troubleshoot your streamyx) !

You can go ahead and start it. I don't mind. hehehe

So you only changed the phone line is it? How much shorter? I think I need to try this. So slow arr.
How much does a phone line cost though?
*
I don't think it will cost a lot even though I never check the price but I'm sure it will be less than RM10. I have too many cables due to my old hardware. 2 metres or 7 feet is the shortest I have.

WHAT IS UR PROBLEM PREVIOUSLY?

If you are using a long phone line and an ADSL ethernet modem. Try a shorter the phone line(RJ-11/usually 2m or 7 feet) and use a long network cable(RJ-45). That will help with the signal problem a bit. You may have to move your modem to near your phone socket too.

Some users uses a long phone line to connect to their modem and PC somewhere else in their house(usually in the user's room) instead of having a short phone line to connect to their phone socket. This will make the DSL signal worse if you do that. It's not entirely TM's fault.

I was using this setup and I get a lot of DSL link disconnects or less than 800Kbps connection until I move my modem next to the phone socket, switch to a short phone line and use a long network cable to connect to my PC. I'm get full 1Mbps which is what my package offers and I don't get any DSL link disconnects with this setup.

And now, TM needs to fix their broken network. sigh

I don't think you will be having a phone line(RJ-11) connected to your PC unless there is a 56k internal PCI modem. It should be a network cable(RJ-45) that is connected.

As for the lag, it should be the problem from TM side if your line setup at home is good.

This proves that how terrible TM is. They don't care about the service as long as they make money while they keep themselves protected. It's already worse than fail after seeing how the people in TMPoint do their work.

Because your modem is a lot closer than TMNet's DSLAM and it is using an ethernet cable.

regarding with the SNR margin from 34 to 27..
What is the problem with the SNR margin i dont see any problem here. and i got mine 13 all the time.. i still able to surf happily.

unless u are using fiber optic.
by changing port is not really help all the time ( if anyone pro's here able to explain about the port thinggy) ?

TM Technician responsibility :
1. internet speed from local site only ( >70% of speed consider good) (best effort basis)
2. ping result. ( start > run > commend > ping www.tm.net.my  )(if u get <50ms u are consider good)
3. line quality. (downstream SNR shd more than >10 )(as well as no dc during raining n on the phone)
4. miss capped (1mb user get 512package)

Out of their Capacity.
1. IP range (only Network Operating Centre can fix the problem)
2. SNR Margin ( 1st change ur house telephone cable, 2nd change telephone outside ur house)
3. international site is slow. (only Network Operating Centre can fix the problem)
4. slow during peak hours. (overselling or over congested.)
5. routing (only Network Operating Centre can fix the problem)
6.
7.
(correct me if wrong)
hope everything i mention can help.
btw, i am not working for TM ^^
*
2. SNR Margin ( 1st change ur house telephone cable and shorten it if it is long, 2nd change telephone outside ur house)

hehehehe

I rang TMnut this what their voice message said:

I've been getting Dear valued customer crap every time I call them. It's nothing new coming from a failed ISP.
