I have read about the requirement for an Autopass Card/VEP on page 1 for entry into Singapore.

I have some questions :
What documents are required to apply for the VEP?  Vehicle registration card and?  What is the charge?  Do we have to get insurance for the car?
Is it advisable to drive there this weekend?
*
No need document at all.... All you need is SGD and your car.... You like normal car went thru the kastam JB then at SG kastam, they will ask you slot the autopass card... you tell the officer don't have then the officer ok lolz.... After that the kastam, there is a building over there for some clarify or something but got car park wan... You park there and tell the officer over there that you wanted to buy autopass... The officer will come over your car and write the road tax number then they will issue the autopass card and you pay SGD 10.... Initial value inside the card is SGD 4 something like that.... You need go 7Eleven to top up and each top up cost around SGD 0.50.... If you not frequent drive thru at SG and won use the Toll then no need top up.... When you out of SGD, slot your autopass card and they will deduct the toll fares for kastam toll.... Then you are back at Malaysia... smile.gif

Just got back driving to S'pore.

1. Most people tell you to bring but don't really need it . Show them your road tax by snapping a photo on h/p.

2. 6 months usually for international travel, not sure can be less for S'pore

3. For first timers,  first 10 days is free. You only need to pay SGD 3+ for toll, which is enough
with the Autopass you get for SGD10. You'll be charged the 2nd time you enter with the same vehicle.
*
Yes, it did not need to bring anything. For S'pore, at least to be one month valid passport. I asked about it as previously on July, my parents went to S'pore with less than 3 month valid passport but still can go in....

my colleague told me to change for just a small amount of SGD, bring the RM to S'pore and change it there - better than changing it in M'sia.. is that true?

Define "house." Condo? HDB? Landed Property? If HDB, you can just park at any of the non-reserved public car parks, $10 per day. If Condo or Landed then more complicated.

Is HDB..... If I start park at 5pm so I can park until the next day 5pm with the $10,right?

different parking lot has different charges

generally it is either 50cents or $1 per half hour from 7am-10.30pm, and $4 for overnight which is 10.30pm-7am, but capped at either $10 or $16.50 per day depending on whether that particular car park is 50cents or $1 per half hour.

Checked the rate is $0.50 half hour.... So I can put $10 and park for whole day, right?

Hi everyone....I am going to Singapore by AirAsia (LCCT-Changi Terminal 1) soon.

I plan to buy some branded goods (clothes, belts, shoes etc) from Singapore for my own personal use and would like to ask a few questions regarding the GST claim.
1) How am I supposed to know which shops around Singapore, especially Orchard Road shopping malls would enable me to claim the GST?

2) Is claiming GST significant/cost effective? Say for example, would buying duty free goods at the airport save me more compared to buying them from retail shopping outlets and then claiming GST from there?

3) Is it troublesome to claim GST? I've been to SG many many times but this is the first time I plan to claim GST.

4) Would I face any problems with customs in Malaysia if I were to bring back this goods? As in, would I be taxed and what not?

Cheers!  biggrin.gif

I help you to answer your queries...

1. Mostly all branded shop can claim for GST but on t&c which mean you can claim your GST if your purchase above certain amount. Also when u make payment, you let the cashier to know bout it.

2. Yes, is very effective.. My father in law brought 4pants at bosini and he manage claim 7% and he had to buy SGD$100.. Whcih he enjoy discount already and additional can claim GST..

3. No troublesome. Is after the departure kastam or before de... If before de then is nearby airasia counter. You can claim GST if you departure from Singapore by air not land. Which mean you had to fly out of Singapore instead of taking bus/ car out of Singapore.

4. There will be no problem at all in Malaysia kastam...
