what's your budget?
for your information, downtown east is a holiday chalet, where many locals do go during the sch break. you might want to consider booking one there?

you coming down for the L.O.G concert?
have a blast!

According to a website, NSS hotel was acquired by the SG gov and no longer operational.isit true ar?so where is the next best plc to stay in SG that is affordable and clean and near to shopping areas?

oso where to purchase the USS tickets earlier to enjoy cheaper rates?
*
what;s NSS hotel?
likewise, do state your budget for me to assist. smile.gif

the only way to do so is through their website. I'm not sure if they still have it cheap, but going down to buy over-the-counter tickets sure isn't going to be discounted.

just today, the battlestar galactica ride was closed today for an unspecified amount of time, so check whether it's operational before you head down.

I just got back from singapore. I stay at Hard Rock Hotel in Sentosa next to the Universal Studio and the casino.

I was just to lucky yesterday. I got free entrance to Universal Studio for my whole family yesterday(3 adults and 3 kids). It was too nice. My family really enjoying the Universal studio for the whole afternoon. Plus they give me a S$50 meal voucher.  Yesterday was open only for special invited guest to USS. I see a lot of reporters and media from others countires taking video and pictures in t he USS.

USS is not very big compare to Disneyland in Japan or hong kong but its already good enough to have a day fun there. I never try most of the rides but picks few cos my kids are too small to rides.

I will sure be back next year after all the rides attraction completes.

For your infomation : Tomorrow is Universal Studio soft opening 18th march.

it's really nice you've got a chance to go there so soon! with dining credits, and for the whole family, no less!
i myself have not even been there!

i have yet to found a cheap hotel/hostel/resort in pasir ris n downtown east area
i tried to google but only found Costa Sands Resorts
n their hotel rate doesnt suits our budget  blush.gif

can u pls share any info about accommodation in that area ?

rite now my plan is to stay at Fragrance hotel in Selegie Road, near to Little India MRT Station
but if there is a cheap place in downtown east n pasir ris,we would love to take that option

btw u going to the LOG concert too ? biggrin.gif

you might want to know is that because SG is so incredibly small, it's almost effortless getting from one place to another. You can choose to stay anywhere and it's convenient going to and fro downtown east. if the prices are high at downtown east, you don't actually have to stay there.

ha.. nope .. not going for the concert.. heard about it though.

hey i want to know how can i go to compassvale bow from queen street?can go by MRT??near or not?
*
hi, if you've extra cash to spare, take the cab. it ranges from 10-20 SGD depending on whether it's peak hour.

otherwise, it's convenient to take the train too.

Walk to the bus stop at Fu Lu Shou Complex, Rochor Road.
Bus 48, 57, 170, 851, 960, 980

Alight at Little India MRT
Take the North-East Line

Board the train towards Punggol Station and alight at Sengkang Station, 8 stops later.

Sengkang LRT Line
Board the train towards Ranggung Station and alight 1 stop later.
Walk 350 m

Walk to Compassvale Bow.

Take this as a general guide. Ask around and you should be fine. By train, the total trip will be less than an hour. By cab, around half an hour.

You may also want to take a bus. I'm delighted to inform you there's a service you can take straight, without any transfers to trains. It is bus number 80, and will take approx. 50 minutes.

Board at Opposite Bugis Junction, Victoria Street. Alight at Opposite The Rivervale, Punggol Road, 35 stops later.

Hope this helps.
Regards from Singapore, and have a nice trip here.

can recommend hotels which are near to Sentosa Island (via MRT)? Looking for budget hotels around the price range of 100-150 SGD that can fit at least 4 person to a room.

Arranging accommodations for a trip to singapore. 4 families going.. Headache on where to stay..

The closest hotel 81 is Hotel 81 Osaka.. but they only have 2 single bed rooms and the room is too small to squeeze 4 ppl...
*
Perhaps you might want to check out Hotel Re @ Pearls Hill, a relatively new hotel. But i'm not too sure if they take in 4 pax per room. Actually travelling will not be too much of a problem; you dont have to specifically look into a hotel that's near sentosa. Public transport will get you there effortlessly from anywhere, no worries.

If there's anything i could do to help, please let me know.

guys, need advice/comment on my 4D3N itinerary:

Friday lunch time arrive SG:
- zoo, night safary

Saturday
- Morning : Sentosa island
- Evening : vivo city
- Night : esplanade, clarke quay, sing flyer

Sunday
- morning : bugis junction
- - evening/night : ?

Monday
- morning : USS
- evening : casino
- night : ?

Tuesday : head back to Changi and play the longest slide biggrin.gif
*
hello

i highly doubt if there's any luggage storage at the zoo. anyway you might want to think if you wanna visit the zoo and the night safari on the single day. might be too much of the similar, if not same, thing. i would recommend you choose one, depending on the weather and the time you reach Singapore.

your saturday itinerary seems okay, but the vivocity and then the combination of activities after that might seem a bit rushed to me. vivocity is a big shopping mall. if you like shopping, you might spend some time there. if not, well, then i reckon you skip that altogether cause it's nothing but an endless array of shops. =) can go for some drinks at clarke quay - it's fun on a sat night. alternatively, just next to vivo is st. james powerstation, a clubbing venue.

p/s: there's nothing much to do in sentosa besides USS and the casino. finding it pretty weird that you would set aside time for that, considering you're going for the latter options on monday.

if i were you, i would put esplanade and the singapore flyer on the next day, on sunday. it is in close proximity to bugis. that said, any place in sg is close to each other, so no worries.

hope this helps. anything else, just post it up here. have fun! =)

Erm I got two questions here :-

1. What is the operating hours for the MRT? (Earliest train being what time and the latest train being what time?)
2. How do I walk to Marina Bay Sands from Marina Bay MRT/The Mini Merlion there ?
*
can check out this website. use the drop bar - http://www.smrt.com.sg/trains/train_timings.asp
although it's possible to walk there from the stations, you could take a bus there from either the marina bay, or promenade mrt station. Either one will do fine.. both are close to mbs.
The public buses listed are 133, SBS 97, SBS 97e, SMRT 106. don't worry, there will be display boards on the bus stops itself to show the routes taken.

Do u guys know anywhere can i park my car in Singapore for free nearer to MRT station? I'll be going there on weekdays and after checking the parking rates in the city plus ERP is gonna be super expensive.
So hope i could avoid the ERP and park somewhere for free and take the MRT into the city
*
it really depends on where you are going. check with the hotels - they might provide complimentary parking for guests.

QUOTE(ntdote @ Jun 14 2011, 09:40 PM)
yea i have the same problem as well. I plan to commute using public transport in SG but is there any affordable parking there?
w\Worst case i will park at JB. Any good and safe place to park in JB? how to get into SG from JB?
*
doesn't make much sense for you to do so. some more you're not very familiar with the place. added hassle as well.

Is Singapore strict on their max no of patronage in a hotel room policy? Aiming to go there in 4 pax but could not find one that could accomodate 4 person in 1 room (preferbly). Could we just rent a hotel room that says for 2 person and go in a pax of 4?
*
like anywhere else in the world, the policy is not so a country-specific thing, but more so a hotel one. Where are you guys staying? But as long as you practice some smarts, like not walking up to check in as a whole group or make too much noise in the room, you'd be fine smile.gif while you don't have to overly secretive, just try to be a bit subtle. Afterall, most hotel staff don't want extra work in catching you guys violating their restrictions. Have fun!

hello bros,

What is the budget for 4days 3 night at Singapore? Planning a day at Universal Studio, other days duno yet. Budget hostel, backpackers hotel, which is the cheapest? Accomodation and transportaion.....

Can anyone share experience? I am going with a fren
THANKS BROS!! smile.gif

Likewise, do share where you want to go. Set aside SGD100 per person for entry to USS, meals and island admission charges. Transport wise, you'd probably spend no less than 10SGD per cab ride. Buses and trains should cost no more than 2SGD per trip.

Erm, i dont have much idea. Chinatown, Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Raffles are on my list. However i dont have much idea about other place. Any suggestion? Say bird park or other attractive place? My budget is below SGD 500 per person.
Besides that, where can i find good and cheap hotel? Budget is below RM100 per person.
Thanks alot.  biggrin.gif

I'm not very certain on the hotels available for that range. Maybe you can refer to some of the recommendations earlier in this thread. What I know, however, is that there is a hostel called Five Stones that opened recently. It has been quite aggressive in its marketing campaign so you might want to check it out.

I'd say skip the bird park and head for the zoo. First day you can head to orchard walk walk and realize there's nothing much there lol.

If you are coming here in the coming weeks, there's an orchid exhibition at Marina Bay Sands. This exhibition allows you access to the Gardens By the Bay which was opened just yesterday. Although only part of it is opened, I think it should be worth a look. There's also a Titanic exhibition at MBS' ArtScience Museum. You can also pay about 30SGD to go up the SkyPark. Dinner can be settled at the many malls in the Marina Bay precinct. This should fill you for another day.

By Raffles, do you mean Raffles Hotel? Unless you are a history buff, I don't think there's much to do there. That said, it is in the Marina Bay vicinity. Let me know if you wanna know anything else.
