The answer is at Singapore's LTA (Land Transport Authority) web site - Driving into and out of Singapore:
http://www.lta.gov.sg/motoring_matters/ind...oring_guide.htm

That's beside must wear seatbelt, plus must have and remember to bring valid passport... lol

Hey, I've read about the hotel not "clean".

Btw, I don't see how you can save cost by staying in JB hotel. Besides, around the JB city area not quite safe too -snatch thief, robbery etc.

Grand Paragon promo rate starts from RM$220, right? If you search around(online), you can find budget hotel in S'pore at less than S$100/room/night. You may also try search for hostel/guesthouse/backpacker inn.

oh, not yet. we're still planning. and, we're planning to stay at Grand Paragon Hotel, at Jalan Harimau. would it be hard for us to get to the bus stations?

Christmas period wor, when can find below S$100 hotel? Already limited choice even when non peak period...

While most backpacker's inns, as the name suggested, good for backpackers, there are also so called guesthouse or hostel. For the guesthouse or hostel, they have double bed room with attached bathroom, so you'll get your privacy. If want cheap, can go for this type ah. Better than some budget hotel, name nia called hotel, cost not cheap and room not big..

Geylang, on one hand, is known as red light area, but on the other hand, it is also famous for good food ler..

As for Little India, weekdays is ok, but on weekends, become the gathering/meeting place for Bangladeshi and Pakistani workers. Can be quite scary, especially at night. Then on Sunday night, around 9+pm, if take MRT, North East Line or take bus pass by Little India, you'll bound into them, carrying their groceries from vege to fishes. I saw before the train's floor kena dirtied by those bloody fishy water from the bag.. Em, not to mention the smell some more..

So far, no one mention staying at Chinatown. Keong Saik Road got some budget hotels. But hor, Keong Saik Road used to be red light area and mistress area too..

Singapore is getting more and more expensive liao. If want to look for real budget place to stay, should consider the area further away from town, places like Changi area, Kovan(near USA -Upper Serangoon Avenue)..

The latest trend is, there are "homestay" ("minsu') in Singapore too.. also not cheap la..

Can anyone please tell me which is the Hotel81 in geylang that situated nearest to MRT station?
*
Hotel 81 Gold and Hotel 81 Lucky, at Lorong 20.

The MRT station is called Aljunied. Google map for Aljunied MRT station, Singapore, you'll see all the Lorongs' number.

I heard before, in Geylang, the "call girls" are at the ODD numbered Lorongs, not at the EVEN numbered Lorongs. Or, is it the other way round?

I think it's a myth anyway...

@paranoid,

Get the 3-in-1 ticket for Jurong Bird Park, Zoo and Night Safari, got discount.

Zoo and Night Safari, need not go on the same day. Can be quite xian to see animals from day to night. Besides, my friends said she saw zoo keeper bringing the elephants from the zoo to the night safari side in the evening..

At Clarke Quay, take the river boat ride. Cruise along the river, to the Merlion site and back.

Is there any homestay for recommendation?
There are 5 of us. If staying in Hotel81 little india it would be around 1.9k for 4nights stay. Too expensive! )=

Homestay not cheap either, check this out:
http://www.sgminsu.com/

Suggest stay at hostel/backpacker inn instead. Dorm bed, S$10 per person. Since there are 5 of you, might worth to book the whole 6-bedded dorm, pay S$60, then you get the whole room.
Here's one(cheapest -fernloft lavender):

If 6-bedded dorm, most likely it's shared bathroom.

Also, if going with family, the older member (eg parents/grandparents) may not be able to accept the "hostel" or "backpacker's inn" concept.

Somehow, I managed to convince my 60yo dad to stay at HK hostel, and it was huge savings on accommodation!

Have you checked on the "homestay" (minsu) from the link I attached earlier?

Those are S'pore HDB flats. To accommodate 5 ppl, you'll need 2 rooms and 1 extra mattress, about S$150-170/night.. Maybe can E-mail and ask for discount if stay 4 nights??

what is the lowest rates for the sing dollar ya?  currently im only see around 2.4 only.

btw is sentosa island is where all the main attraction are?  if so maybe i should just stay there.  from the map i cant see a road connecting the island.  how to go there?
*
Those are the Sentosa's attractions, can cover in one day or less.. On the whole, there are other attractions in Singapore Island - Singapore Zoological Garden, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park, Singapore River, Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, Merlion Park, Singapore Flyer, etc etc..

So, no point staying in Sentosa la..

I used to have Robinson Card before (given to my cousin liao). Very good offer for members when sales at Robinson or John Little. Used to receive mail with discount coupons. The best is the additional S$5 off with S$15 or S$20 purchase, can use together with other discount..
