QUOTE(navilink @ Aug 22 2008, 11:08 PM) hi...can describe more about the backpacker room in 7th Storey Hotel? Forget about this budget hotel. Its is going to be demolished to make way for I can't remember what. SG Gov had already informed the hotel management and was in the news. The last few days, someone posted in SG travel blog asking for help due to booking cancellation. 1) really so cheap one, SG$18 per night only for 4ppl/room? 2) how many beds (i see got twin/double, summore can add extra bed) 3) really the best accomodation for budget ppl in singapore? location strategic? Try the following sites instead. You can check on those 3 sites where they are lcoated. There are maps in their site. There isn't much problem about safety, unless hotel guests themselves are the culprit. Else, it should be alright. A few of the sites which I had put up, they were actually featured on Channel 8 TV program about entreprising individuals who strife on their on, in their early 20s,30s and had survived the business by doing something different from others, thrifting on such business model. Most do it not just as a job, but more of interest, aspiration and hobby. http://www.citybackpackers.com.sg/ http://www.sleepysams.com/ http://www.thehivebackpackers.com/ which hostel is the best location for staying when i want to go sentosa island and sg zoo? will be going there in mid sept, so need to find one soon... So these are more homely friendly kind of budget hotel. One of them even conduct free walk near its neigbohourhood, popular among ang mo too. Anyway, I had never stay in any one of them before. I hope I am right by the impression I get from TV and reading about their site. This post has been edited by bbmars: Aug 23 2008, 09:16 PM |

You can find tourist map at shopping centres information coutner along Orchard Rd, or major hotels counter. They are free. If you happen to stop by in JB to SG custom, maybe you can try look for SG tourist counter at City Square just beside custom. I hope its still there as I had not been there several years already. That shopping mall is also partially own by SG company as I read from MY press some years ago. |

Hello... Im from Selangor, planning a short trip to singapore to explore new stuff (didnt visit the area for 10+ years di... when i was 10 y/o?... i only rmb takashimaya and sentosa island)
Due to time constraints and budget, i can only stretch it t only 2 days in Singapore. I plan to sleep on the buses lol. So due to this time limit, i hope to visit at least most of the interesting places of Singapore. well, not shopping malls, since got so many in KL as well, unless its has marvellous architecture or is a national landmark. I will not be able to goto singapore again, after this trip, until a few years later as I will be working overseas. thus, please shout out any places that one should visit when in Singapore. Beautiful architecture, the national lepak place, Fun activities, Nightlife and good food! Also... what is the cheapest way to travel there? a return using Firstcoach is rm115. anything cheaper than this? (bus reaching singapore early morning preferred, if any) thanks all! appreciate it alot |

if you want a faster way, try firefly, you might get a good deal. they use fokker f50 though, and you will fly into senai.
if you use airasia also same, fly to senai airport then you take the coach (buy ticket out in front) to city lounge. get off there then take yellow bus to check point, get off, do the passport thing, get back on the same bus or another yellow bus (keep your ticket stub). then at singapore side, just take yellow bus to the nearest MRT station and go from there or take taxi lor. Very easy, i always go thru JB when i go SG but this year I don't think I will go SG anymore cos basi liaw. shopping malls, the newer ones are like vivocity lor, well you know what they say, you seen one, you seen them all! |

I think Singapore Flyer would be more accurate compare to Eye of Singapore..haha
I would suggest National Museum of Singapore as its quite interesting, can spend a few hours there. Its also near Fort Canning, maybe U can have a short walk around there.. If u were into science stuff may I suggest the Science Museum..I like that place, more interesting than the one in KL IMHO. Then at nite maybe have a drink at Clark Quay or go walk around Bugis and Sim Lim since theyre near each other.. |
