can elaborate? Do you guys think that people who don't associate themselves with their own race can unite as a nation regardless of race?
*
that will never happen. im sorry to tell you this. no matter what people say, n how fancy words they put. everyone is a racist. believe it. maybe not the big red neck racist type. could be the small politically corrected racist. smile.gif

TS, if u learnt about sociology, Race can be changed. If you want to change your race, which race would it be?
But i disagree with the English teacher and profiency things. If you stay in England for 3 years, you will be more proficient than those who speak English in Malaysia for 10 years, eventhough you got the same grade A. One thing too, the educational system in Malaysia didnt emphasize more on proficiency, more on memorizing things and the 3M.  unsure.gif

sorry to say this, but that bolded part is just plain old wrong. i happen to know people who never left malaysia, n speak english very well. and i've seen people who stayed in UK, USA for 2-5 years. yet they cant make a full english sentence.

Learning english or any language requires the intention to learn it. just by being somewhere doesnt mean you'll learn it. yes it is a factor, an important one, but never the less it is not the only factor.

but the thing is about the environment not which race is bad, if you are brought up in a very friendly malay but hostile chinese environment youd think the chinese are bad. get what i mean ? but nvm its not about that.

i do feel i dont belong to my race, i dont follow the cultural conforms, im not too good with their language and so on. but i know i belong there just because they are my people, if i turn my back on them which race will open its arms to me openly?
*
at first paragraph, either way, racism will always be there.

second paragraph, n thus why the racism will always be there. smile.gif i mean your second point says why racism exist, if you try to get rid of it.

QUOTE(empyreal @ May 19 2008, 12:29 AM)
alright, gloves' off.

look, that's the whole problem with this kind of shit. when you lot label someone like that as 'traitor' you see your own race as a gang, and that's where all racism starts from. my gang is better, smarter, richer, more noble, etc than your gang.

its good that this one fellow sees beyond this myopia (although i do agree, hating is a tad far) but at least, he (or she) isn't a racist. same can't be said to some others, however much one thinks himself as not.

relying on the support and advantages of this discrimination (like getting a job due to one's race) is racism too. profiteering from an injustice is the same as committing the act itself. bloody hands at arm's length, one would say.

looking at this thread makes me sick, seriously. how can one complain that the gov is racist if even yourselves are too?
*
and thats what i said, everyone is a racist somewhere in their mind, and heart. even if it is tiny little bit.

if only everybody were using their brain, there wouldnt be any racism.

but people dont like to use brain, they rather use the influence of racism to get easy life or what they want.

stop finding excuses to be racist.

and stop trying to prove that ur not racist.

it has to be natural.

i dont hate any specific race. i just hate every one of you, equally, no prejudice whatsoever. srsly, i hate you guys.
*
im neutral. but same time im realistic. as much as i hate racism, believe me, it effect me the most. im a foreigner here, treated the worst possible way. lol.

so being racist will harm me more than good to me. as i said, im being realistic, i analyze what is going on, n i thought loads of why racism exist.

the worst kind of racist is Malaysia is the ones who hates every race in Malaysia but has a hard-on for white ppl and follow blindly every cultural identity of white ppl as superior

theyre not just racist, they have low self esteem
*
yeap, i agree with you, they are pretty low self esteemed. but to be honest, that reflects their intelligence and education. when there is a person who realize all the bad effects of racism. they leave it. but when they do that, they need a new moto, philosophy for their life, here they do the mistake. and follow the white pple blindly. low self esteem, education, intelligence and many other factors bring this conclusion to them. but yes, i have low respect for these kind of people.

its not an excuse or a point to prove,

what me and perhaps him are trying to bring forth is this,

- why is it soo hard to stay "no" and a more realistic view of the topic. instead of being politically correct and going "its bad"

frankly a lot of people say they are not racist, but saying no when its hostile is a different matter. which is where most of us actually fail and start going racist. ive seen that happen to friends, relatives and all. they are not racist but are pressured to when things turn hostile.

which makes me ask a question to all of those that preach about being anti-racist.

will you honestly say no when the cards are not on your side? that you have to be one to survive ?

dont have to tell me, answer it yourself when it hits you.

but we have strayed from the topic too far, its about us being against our own race
*
yeap, you hit the nail at the point. if everyone in this country (world in general) will say NO to the question "will you honestly say no when the cards are not on your side? that you have to be one to survive ?" then we can have an idealistic country with no racism. otherwise it is being hypocrite saying "im not racist" and then answer "yes" to that question.

so back to hating own race. i dont hate my race, hate is just strong emotion that take loads of energy. n im not against them, coz i know it is fruitless, i just take care of myself. wink.gif
