i just got a new iphone with firmware 1.1.4 today, unlocked it with iLiberty+... no problems whatsoever. And then i tried the wifi. It detected my home wifi (i'm using a linksys wrt54gc router) but when i tried to connect to it, it always fails.

I tried resetting network settings on the iphone but it still doesnt work. sad.gif Anyone here experienced something like this before or know how to fix this?

Do u use WEP with your router? iPhone got a problem connecting to routers using WEP. Try change it to WPA and connect again but make sure u tap "forget this network" first.

doesnt just apply to iphones. even for mac users, especially those who upgraded to mac os x leopard. reliability of this source is unknown but it does make perfect sense; apple no longer acknowledges WEP as a safe option when it comes to wireless connection (as WEP is relatively easy to hack into; google this if you need more explanation).

I solved my problem. I changed my wifi to open connection and then got the iphone to auto retrieve an ip and set the dhcp. After that i reenabled my WEP and keyed in the relevant data into the network settings of the phone.

Edit: odd error now. connected but unable to locate server when using safari (or anything else). :/
