1731: Transfer snap: Robbie Keane has rejoined Tottenham from Liverpool. That is official.

Added on February 3, 2009, 1:53 am17.30: The final word on Andrei Arshavin's on-off-on-off-on-off-on transfer from Zenit St Petersburg to Arsenal is that it is off. The Associated Press report the deal broke down over the size of the transfer fee and the amount of compensation Zenit would be paid for allowing the Russian to break his four-year contract. "The deal didn't happen. Arshavin is coming back to Zenit," a spokesman said.

Already have Cudicini. Maybe they'll buy Kaboul back from Pompey. But weird transfer. Already have Defoe, should look for a different type of striker, since the Keane-Defoe didn't work particularly well before. Bent have been scoring goals, but seems like Redknapp don't trust him. Keane can virtually be called a flop. biggrin.gif Wonder what's up with that. Half a season, and he's shipped out. He wasn't Benitez's choice?

As for Arshavin.. unlucky if the move didn't work out. Zenit have really played tough to keep transfer from happening.. weakening their bargaining position every window since his value drop and drop.

because no clubs willing to sell their best striker right now ... the only striker that on sale now may be is santa cruz, but may be too espensive for spurs ... and there is a row between keane and rafa, hence spurs take the chance to sign him back to fight for epl survival ...

keane is not a flop at all, is rafa's weird formation ...

Still, Bent, Defoe and Keane.. all didn't work for them before in combination, not to mention with Pav too they didn't click. They need Berbatov back. laugh.gif

Keane no a flop? Bought for 20m, and Rafa preferred Ngog to have on the bench. Maybe he just didn't fit in Rafa's safety first style. 2 DM, one striker. But he should not have bought him in the first place if that was the case. Wonder if there's something more to it.. a bust up maybe?

Sad to see a player's confidence get shattered just like that. Signing for his boyhood club, given the legendary no. 7 jersey, so much expectations, and then having his ego crushed by being offloaded back to the club he came from in what, 6 months, for a cut price? I don't know who's decision it was to take Keane to Pool, but Rafa seemed very happy when he signed and the hype surrounding the possibility of forming the best striking partnership in Europe was massive. Half a season later, he's being sent back, with not many good memories. Pool fans seem to think he's been unfairly treated by Rafa, yet many seem to be happy they've seen the last of him. Keane has always been a confidence player imo, get a good run and he'll find his footing and form. Substituting him out in nearly every game when your club is looking for a goal to kill/win/equalise is confidence sapping, especially when you're a striker.

Harry seems to be rounding up the old gang again. They've got a surplus of strikers now, with so much talent and dough spent that it'd be a joke if they go down.

SAF was surprised Keane went for 20m.. guess he was right, again. Wouldn't pay more than 500k for him he said when Keane was younger. laugh.gif

Think Spurs would do well once they gel. Good players, on paper, but it's different on the pitch, as Liverpool found out. Palacios(?) seem like a good buy. Not sure why they bought Defoe back. He would get them goals, but hard to find the right partners for him. And now they go and bring back Keane.. with Bent there too, and Pav, they all can't form good partnerships, although Pav-Keane haven't try yet.
