hey guys. i'm thinking of enrolling in the one academy for multimedia or graphic design as my 2nd degree cuz thats where my interest is actually.

can anyone gimme like a rough idea of the difference between the both?
and the difference between the diploma counterparts?
the fee structure and how bout the requirements for entry in degree?
muz i have like foundation which is related or will a SAM cert qualify me for it?
and must i be able to do pretty good sketches or will it be taught there if needed? thanks a lot in advance for all replies.

hi every1. wanna ask a little opinion. i'm interested in taking diploma in illustration at the one academy. but after i got 7a in spm, my dad really wants me to take engineering. should i take illustration, which has always been my passion or engineering like my father told me to? my dad always try to talk me out my choice like talking about job prospect n stuffs. what's ur guys' opinions?
*
haha. u sound like me back when i was done with SAM in taylors. i wanted take graphic design in TOA but my dad ended up asking me do engineering. well cant argue with dad cuz he paying not me so engineering lo. 4 years later. i think i'm gonna enroll in TOA for digital animation at the age of 23. in the end its up to u. did engineering and didnt enjoy it cuz i guess i wasnt doing something i want. its either u choose what u want to do or whats convenient for you to do. ur call bro XD all the best biggrin.gif

aiming for ur passion is correct. but u must think issit becasuse u like to draw thats why  u think u wan to take diploma in illustration? bczo i have alot of friends who join illustration and find that they just like to treat drawing as hobby but not a job forever.

sounds good. but how about drawing skills? cuz i not confident in my drawing but then they need portfolio and stuff when entering. are their expectations high? and if dun draw very well they'll reject you?

i heard that if you take diploma, then they will teach you the basics of drawing. Some of TOA students were weak in drawing when they started attending TOA but after learning the basics, they can draw like a pro. But then again, it depends on whether you are serious when learning the basics or not.

yup very serious about it. so they wont reject even if i cant draw very well la?

My friend loan 20k for this course (the rest her parent covered). Working for 3 years, she still couldn't pay all her loan with meager amount of pay this market provide.

i guess depends. in msia market i guess still not mature. but sg there are a lot of design, movie and game developing companies. a work in progress i guess. anyway its better to work something u enjoy than working something u dun enjoy
