recently i found that the iphone price in malaysia is shocking compared to the price from apple.com

few days ago my friend in malaysia(i am in US currently) asked me to buy an iphone for him in US and ship back to malaysia(unlocked or locked)
after some calculations i this is the conclusion that came out:

iphone 8GB $399USD + shipping = RM 1400
iphone 16GB $499USD + shipping = RM 1700

that is the peak price. i actually found some much more cheaper prices. my fren even bought an iphone during last xmas promotion.....u know what...
it was 150 USD less than RM 500 !!!!!!

anyway there is some problem with iphone right now. there are actually many people regrets buying it.
some of my fren even lelong their newly bought iphone for various reasons.

some people might flame me for criticizing about the price and quality. but this is just my personal thoughts. no offend

ur forgetting the taxes etc.. do u know if u bring iphone in the country u will be taxed?

that is if you come with the box? isnt it? dismantle the box would skip you taxes. i think per person would be able to bring in 1-2 unit if you hand carry 1 & another goes to cargo

Well, that's how people make money. Low Yat plaza selling iphone 8GB from 1.8k to 2k. In fact, there are people just selling 1.5k out there.

if you got ppl personally flying in from US ... no problem.. you can bring it iphone at conversion rate

even that, if custom random check you and u have a boxed handphone .. they will find all excuses to "tax" you ....furthermore anything that transmit wave ... e.g cordless phone,walkie talkie, handphone etc...are taxable by law and need sirim approval

but if you going to post it...
"just put as gift la or take out box ..." .. <-- if it's that simple ..... custom can close down

just say that the price that you buy here in m'sia .. is including paying for all the hassle to pass custom etc... ppl that can bring in such a quantity of iphone to sell is because they already paid their "DUE" to the custom ...

so yea... so don't complain about it .... i find it funny that ppl don't complain about other phone like NOKIA ... new N95 8GB is like 1800 - 1900 .... no1 seems to bother to complain about that...

Who cares how much it costs in the US. Not everyone has a friend going or living in the US.

Maggi Mee costs a damn sight more in London then here in KL. But when you gotta have Maggi Mee you just gotta have it.
