What scents compliment each other?, Care to even muster a guess?

Yes I am a guy asking a question about perfumes and colognes.
Anyway here's the situation. My girlfriend's birthday is coming up so I was thinking of getting her a bottle of perfume (standard gift for women, since i'm never that clever with gifts anyway). And I was wondering if there was any perfume I could get her that would smell nice with another scent of men's cologne. Maybe like for example Armani's Acqua Di Gio with Black Code, or something like that.
I collect men colognes so I wouldn't mind getting a new bottle for myself if it really compliments the perfume. So yeah, feel free to suggest any two scents that you feel would go really well with each other.

Ralph Lauren has a great range for couples...
Actually I use Lulu Castagnette's je te'M and Cacharel's Amor por Homme... the first is actually not that fruity but rather sensuous and very grown up while the latter is rather discrete but addicting... yes... I use a man's perfume... but it was rather pleasant enough for a girl to use and its rose ingredients is subtle and doesn't empower the whole concoction.. so I love it.. their bottles are simple though but still pretty.
DKNY's Red Delicious is recommendable.
