To all sifus out there, I am a beginner in guitar, and own a Yamaha F-310 acoustic guitar. I changed the original strings because the string is too rusted and does not sound as good. I bought this Good brand of string for electric guitar and it sounds really bad. May i know is there any differences between the string 0.01 and 0.009? Coz if not mistaken the original string is 0.010 but the one that i change is 0.09. Or could it be the quality of the string itself?? Is there much differences between expensive string and cheap string?? I noticed that if i change the pick, the sound will turn out different(harder ones and those jim dunlop 0.6) Any advice/comments is appreciated

Two is One and One is None.

reason is cos you put electric strings on a acoustic. f-310 factory string gauge is not mistaken is 0.011, acoustic set.
you put something much skinnier of cos its going to sound much thinner.

So is it recommended to put the 0.010 or the 0.009 ones?? Does string brand makes any differences, if let say i compare 0.009 a caplang brand and a branded one?? Do i need to change the string instead of getting electric string and use the acoustic ones??

of course different brands have different sounds. and its better that you put acoustic strings on your acoustic. -9 gauge is too thin, the sound wont be nice and will be too soft

QUOTE(SweetTooth @ May 14 2008, 04:58 PM) of course different brands have different sounds. and its better that you put acoustic strings on your acoustic. -9 gauge is too thin, the sound wont be nice and will be too soft Then the best will still be 0.010 instead of 0.09 acoustic. Actually i bought new string from doremi yesterday So i think in the future i will stick to 0.010. Thank you for the advice

No lah, I think it's his GOOD brand strings.
I have used that also.
It's a CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP string, rm 10 only or less for the whole set.
Get a better string set.

Sorry for repeating this again but i bought myself 2 set of new strings, 1 is daddario 0.009 and another one is also daddario 0.010. Both also acoustics. If the 0.009 is not good... then i might as well exchange the 0.009 pack to 0.010 pack. I afraid will end up like the one i am having.

Never put nickel wound electric strings on an acoustic... it will just be flappy and thin sounding...
Always use bronze strings for acoustics... The ultra light gauge for GHS is .010 and it's easier to play.. But remember to note the gauge of the set of factory installed strings... Don't differ from the default gauge too much as you will have intonation problems...
