Added on June 12, 2008, 11:53 amThe American Kennel Club (AKC) recognizes three sizes of poodle - Standard, Miniature, and Toy. All three sizes are considered the same breed. The standards for all three sizes are the same with the exception of height:
For the poodle newbie, here's how to tell which category your dog falls into:
Standard: Over 15 inches in height at the highest point of the shoulders.
Miniature: Over 10 inches and up to 15 inches at the highest point of the shoulders.
Toy: 10 inches or less at the highest point of the shoulders.
