QUOTE(keithmin @ May 18 2010, 04:21 PM) so nice ehh, even by just reading the forum's post, i can feel the fish biting from my office... What type of GPS brand are you using. Some GPS brands have difrent settings. Well, to be frankly with you, a compass, GPS and someone that knows the area is the best bet. Bring that person with you once or twice (this is not for the far ones like where u cant see the shore) lets say you want to go to tasik prima. That person knows. On the way going there, on your GPS. Once reached. Pin point the location and look at the compas as where its directing. And only then you on your fish finder too (this is important to know how big is the coral reef below). Just survey around that area up and about. Search for coral reef that is big, huge (as alot of fish live and breed in those areas). And dont forget to also pin point that location. After finishing pin poining the location. Try one by one to find out where is the "lubok" of the fish. Once you have detected it (lets say out of 10, 4 places are promising) delete the rest. And set those 4 point as your fishing ground. But beware, sometimes the coral are higher that that is showed in the fish finder.Added on May 18, 2010, 4:36 pmi wanna ask some sifus here too...i saw some earlier forum's post regarding the GPS location abt fishing spots... http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/694494/+1800 how can i convert the latitude and longitude coordinates to GPS coordinates? OK lets say Tasik Prima : lat 3.0005987 lon 101.603794 I find that position in MapSource it shows me: N3° 0.84 E101° 36.169 how do i convert it as my gps only let me enter the GPS location but not latitude and longitude |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « All above locations are places in kuching and sematan.. cant wait for fishing season to open again... Added on January 9, 2011, 9:20 am QUOTE(max_cjs0101 @ Dec 29 2010, 02:03 PM) If you're staying aroung Taman Tun area, you might be better off going to Kepong as there are two fishing shops at Jalan Kepong with quite a selection of fishing tackles. Talking about fibreglass rods, i started fishing with those tho... i caught a stingray which weigh around 13kg it broke the tip of the rod If you're not into mega fished and want a rod that lasts long, you can get a fibreglass rod where its very durable and cheaper compared to graphite rods. well @ max_cjs0101 have u ever went to anglers resort at pulau ketam? i ever caught a siakap which weight around 1 - 1.5kg too there... but it depends on the water.. but u dont have to have a state of the art fishing equiptment for deep sea fishing, try offshore fishing.. about a few km from land.. rent a boat or something... the chances of getting ikan duri @ belukang or buntal is like 1% only.. the rest u may get those common ikan merah, kerapu n stingray

On Febuary chinese new year im having a trip.. not to say deep sea fishing but i think its around 2 miles from shore.. cant wait for the day since my uncle has a boat i might just as well go with him eheheh Added on January 11, 2011, 10:13 pmOh yeah... the road to anglers resort is made of red soil and sand... so not realy ment for those lowriders.. the best vehicle to go there is either a 4x4 or a pajero @ land rover.. RM5 per rod.. This post has been edited by HeLLonEarTH: Jan 11 2011, 10:13 PM |

Here is from my own expiriance just to share with you all...
Poppers: Fish that loves poppers are mostly Toman, Giant Travelly.. The best time to use these poppers are when they are on a feading frenzy, like if you were hunting toman, watch them carefully, if they are hunting those small fishes on top of the water, that is the best time to use a popper, for GT, if you were at the sea, you would see splashing on the surface of the water, they are on a feeding frenzy too, might be hunting ikan tamban or those normal fishy we catch with 7 eyes @ apollo rig, cast your popper there and retrieve till you get a strike, Remember, the tail of a GT is sharp, makesure you have a thick leader or it could just hit its tail and its free to go, drag should not be too thight as GT are fast predator fish, Spoon a.k.a abu island and and those lookalikes These are good to attract fishies in dark water (freshwater). I ever caught a ikan Bulan with this, tomman also would love this bait (as i said dark waters). Spoon is really2 easy for beginers. Because of the shiny reflection, it looks like a small fish in distrest and the scales reflect the sunlight.. so those predetory fish should get attracted by this. In the sea, fish like Alu-alu love this spoon but, a chance to land alu-alu with a spoon is 50/50 as thier teeth are sharp and spoons arent big, but it still does the trick to land fishy for beginers.. Trolling This is a tecnique where most people who go out to sea to fish as a game or hobby to lure those alu-alu, senangin, tenggiri. The best colour is red n white. But it dosent guarentee a catch tho, depends on the speed of the boat, What i've tried before was a speed of 8 knots. (trolling has its own equipment and mostly is by using a baitcaster reels not spinning reels and not lowproflie baitcaster and a rod which its reel seat are made from aloi) Trolling dosent work in freshwater tho 0_0 Hope these thing helps abit.. im not a profesional but i have experiance... Now is febuary, shouldt u guys get new gears? Hehehe.. since i bought a daiwa millionare cvx 253a. Whatbout you guys? |
