Interesting topic. the question is, does he has any approval from local council ? if they do have it, es legal.

second question, why on earth does he need to do the piling work ? i have not enconter this yet, but, more or less, it will cause some minor crack to the wall. but, i guess, it will be only the plaster layer.

last thing, i am still wondering, why des he need to do the piling ? is ur housing area built on soft soil or on mining land ? does any of the house in this area encounter termite problem ?

thanks

not sure if he has any approval from local council. I can complain to them for nuisance right? termite problem i heard that the showhouse owner which happens to be 2 doors away had that while others doesn't have that. As for housing area built on soft soil this area used to be estate land and there are several units being demolished as the area is sinking.

if nuisance, sure u can complain, but, i guess it is not important.

the thing u should worry now, why he need to do piling work ? reason to do this expensive job is not favourable unless have certain issue regarding the soil. this piling job, is considered a heavy reno, which mean it will certainly need approval from local council. u can normally get it notified through the little sign in front of the house.

what kinda renovation he is conducting ?

u said few house get demolished due to soft land ? that sounds very serious.

normally, on mining land or wet land, termites problem will exist, which is not a possitive thing for the surrounding area.

u said, it used to be estate area. is it rubber tree area or palm tree area ? if it is an estate, soft soil should not be the one.

NOW, I THINK U SHOULD MORE WORRY ABOUT THE SOIL ISSUE RATHER THAN NUISANCE.

thanks

cant remember if it's the rubber tree or palm oil....bout the soil issue actually it's because of the developer. The contractor which i know personally told that the land was not allowed to be properly done and they were rushed through the project. This thing happens alot in mainland part of penang doh.gif

Give us more details:

What is your neighbour piling? Is it they are building a new house? Demolish old house, building new one? Or just building an extension?

The piling would be ok if it has been approved by the authorities. That you would have to call to check.

If you're worried about your house cracking, take some pictures now and if cracks appear take pictures again and immediately notify neighbour.

Yes, it must be quite big if they need to do piling.

Piling is normally used to set the foundation so that you can build a structure on top of it.

Better check with your local council if they have approval to do what they are doing.
