hey guys.. new ubuntu user here..
i installed ubuntu last night as i was getting pretty pissed with vista (bugs and some driver issues)

anyways after i installed the latest ubuntu 8.04 LTS my pc was fine the desktop everything was fine.. .
then i went to SYSTEM >> ADMINISTRATION >> HARDWARE DRIVERS and i installed what it told me to install.. after i installed the recommended display card driver.. and restarted the pc... my screen became pixelated and crappy.. with like some boxes in the middle and here and there... sort of like the screen became blur la.. so then i uninstalled the driver and restarted the pc.. .after that its all back to normal..

what happened?

EDIT: using NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT

My suggestion, download the driver from Nvidia. http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_169.12.html
There are some steps that you need to follow before and during installation. You can find more info here...

anyone who have problem with pulseaudio just run this
CODE
sudo apt-get install libflashsupport

*
however, some application may still having sound problem after installing libflashsupport.. one way that i tried after installing it, create a file named /etc/asound.conf and paste the following config:

CODE

pcm.pulse {
type pulse
}
ctl.pulse {
type pulse
}
pcm.!default {
type pulse
}
ctl.!default {
type pulse
}
