No ... UOB rewards point are not evergreen. Means, they have an expiry date unlike Citibank.

Added on June 1, 2008, 12:44 pm

Just to add what David83 mentioned, you could also try to apply from other banks (e.g HSBC, UOB) and see what credit limit they give you. If the alternative banks give you more credit limit then you can consider terminating UOB if they still don't upgrade your credit limit after 1 year.

Am wondering if MBB waives the annual fee of the Maybank Amex Cards? I just checked eligibility but it doesn't look as if I'm gonna be able to qualify for the Maybank Platinum Credit Card.

I am using MBB Maybank Gold AmEx credit card now (i'm just a supplementary card holder) and the first 2 years is annual fee free. On the third year you'll need to call Maybank card centre to ask them to waive the annual fee. According to the lady at the customer service counter at the Maybank branch my mom applied for the Gold AmEx credit card, Maybank is trying to get as many people as possible to use AmEx, be it AmEx credit card or AmEx charge card. So Maybank card centre will waive our AmEx annual fee in no time, even if we're no big spender.

If they're really trying to get as many AMEX card holders as possible, they should have offer me AMEX credit card with no annual fee when I applied for that few months back.

Oh ... But my mom also applied it a few months ago (in March). It took us a month to get the cards. MBB Gold AmEx credit card has a validity of only 3 years (member since 08, valid thru 4/11 stated on my MBB AmEx credit card).

By the way Tinkerbell, you have a Citibank Platinum credit card, right ? Is it a Visa Platinum or Mastercard Platinum ? Can you post a picture of it ? Of course with all the details embossed on the card censored. I really would like to know how does Citibank platinum credit card look like. So far i like HSBC Visa Platinum the most tongue.gif

My MBB Amex Gold free-AF-2-yrs is up in end-Aug 2008. I'll post here if statement has any AF charges or if they waive automatically.

The only special things I see for MBB Petronas Visa is:
1) 5x TP (ending July?)
2) FREE-FOR-LIFE with no condition (no need call up for waiver) thumbup.gif

Yes. Ending 31st July.

Nothing so great about (2) since CIMB DA also offers that.

If the MBB Petronas Visa 5x points ends or doesn't improve.. i would just change to DA. At least flexibility in petrol choice.

@MilesAndMore,
There is no information on MBB website re the MBB Gold Amex; just the Platinum Credit Card. Or are U referring to the Gold Amex Charge Card?Also, I read about the 'Membership Rewards' and from what I understand, there is an additional RM25 charge [for the one without flights/accommodation] - is that a different scheme?

I'm interested to find out a lil more cause the TP looks quite good *grins* Need to also know if I could pay bills through this Amex card *grins* It'll be good if it's possible for additional TPs *grins*

I hold a Citibank Visa Platinum and the design is fugly blush.gif [the one I have is the same on U see on the Citibank website]

Please refer to the link below :
Maybank AmEx Classic & Gold Credit Card

For Maybank AmEx Gold credit card, you'll need only RM36,000/pa of annual salary to apply while AmEx Gold charge card requires at least RM48,000/pa. Maybank gives you 2x Treatpoints for every RM1 charged to your Maybank Classic or Gold AmEx credit card. As for AmEx charge card, you'll need to pay an annual fee of RM25 if you want to accumulate points for AmEx "Membership Rewards". AmEx "Membership Rewards" points have no expiry date as long as you maintain your account. AmEx "Membership Rewards" also has nothing to do with Maybank Treatpoint.

Sad to say, MBB Amex Credit Card can't pay any bills online AFAIK. However, the Amex Charge Card can pay all utility bills, through auto-debit. But Charge Card need RM25 to activate the MR points, and another RM25 to activate the Turbo MR points.

@MilesAndMore,
Thanks for the URL on the Maybank Amex Classic & Gold Credit Card [I didn't go through the Maybankcard area; just the Amex Area *grins*].

Yes, the Visa logo has been replaced smile.gif
