Chris Evans as Captain America From Comic Con Teaser Trailer

Everyone lucky enough to make it into Hall H during the big Marvel shindig over at Comic Con (and managed not to get stabbed  by their fellow con-goer) got a quick sneak peek at Joe Johnston’s upcoming “Captain America: The First Avenger” movie, and in the short teaser, you got your first glimpse of Chris Evans in full Captain America costume. Well, almost full.

Synopsis:-

Based on the Marvel Comics
character from World War II. A brave, yet mild-mannered young soldier named Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to undergo a series of experiments for a US army Super Soldier program. The military succeeds in transforming him into a human weapon, but quickly decide that their Super Soldier is far too expensive a creation to risk in combat. So, they decide to put him to use as an army celebrity and parade him across Europe to boost morale by performing in USO shows for American troops. He is even given a costume that bear the colors of Old Glory for the stage. Then, when a Nazi plot reveals itself Rogers must rise up and and become the First Avenger, in order to save his country. Steve Rogers becomes Captain America and he earns his way into the hearts and souls of every American, bringing hope and justice to a war-weary nation. Later, during a mission to Germany to stop his archenemy – The Red Skull, from launching rockets at the allies, Captain America sacrifices himself and winds up frozen in ice for almost six decades! Revived, Steve Rogers now must join forces with new heroes and become an Avenger of the modern age.

Look! Actual Picture of Chris Evans on the Captain America Set!



Instead of, you know, pictures of buildings, and signs, and people putting up buildings and signs from the movie. Mind you, not that there’s anything wrong with you kids posting every little image from the movie you can get your grubby Internet hands on, but come on, signs and set buildings???? Really???

Anyways, here’s your first look at Chris Evans on the Manchester, England set of “Captain America”. Alas, he’s not in his costume, but as you can see, Evans looks like he’s hit the gym on a pretty regular basis for the role. He’s always been more buff than the average Joe, but I’m pretty sure he’s gotten bigger, though I could be wrong. It’s not like I spend all my time checking out the size of Chris Evans’ biceps, you know. Ahem. Where was I? Oh right — check out those guns!

Not sure who the pistol-packing girl in the last few pics with Evans is, but she’s apparently in uniform. It’s entirely possible that’s Hayley Atwell, who has the biggest female role in the film, but it’s hard to tell from the angle of the shots.

“Captain America” stars Evans as the star-spangled avenger, aka Steve Rogers, and co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, and Toby Jones. Joe Johnston is directing for a 2011 release.

There’s Going To Be A Submarine In Captain America, Take A Look



There’s going to be a submarine in Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: The First Avenger”. The Liverpool Daily Post  published two pictures from the set at the city’s Stanley Docks, which have been transformed to resemble 1940s New York. It is not specified which side the retro-look submersible belongs to.

"Captain America" Gets Some Character Art



With all the fuss over "Thor" and "X-Men" of late, and with "Green Lantern" also keeping busy, "Captain America" marketing has been pretty quiet the last month or two.

Now it's about to ramp up again as Cinemarcado have released three international character posters from the feature including a good look at Hugo Weaving in full Red Skull face. Grrrr.

Two Fresh as a Daisy New Captain America TV Spots



Two new, fresh TV spots for Marvel’s upcoming “Captain America: The First Avenger” featuring some nice new footage from the movie (as captured online for your viewing pleasure by the lads over at TheMovieBox). I still can’t get over how small Evans looks in his pre-Captain America scenes. I get this bad feeling they overdid it just a tad. That scene with him sitting in the car with Hayley Atwell? He looks like her child, fer Christ. Was comic book Steve Rogers THAT puny? The rest of it, though, looks ridiculously cool.

Captain America Gets a Cool Retro Poster



Let’s face it, Captain America is a pretty retro character, so it makes sense that he’s getting a retro poster that also gives a nod to the first issue of the Captain America comic book, featuring the Star Spangled Avenger punching the crap out of that rapscallion Adolf-something. Yeah, take that, Adolf!

100 copies of the poster was printed up by Marvel Studios to give away to cast and crew (which means it’s definitely a collectible if you can find a copy), with five finding their way into the hands of the Hero Complex crew, who will be giving them away to five lucky dogs this Sunday at their Hero Complex Film Festival in Hollywood.

The artist of the piece is one Paolo Rivera.

Captain America’s USO Suit Revealed



Before he puts on that permanent costume and really goes to war against the Nazi scum and that dude with the red skull, Steve Rogers aka Captain America had to do some work for the USO to sell some war bonds to fund the war. Captain America Slings Some New Images Online



Okay, so it’s not Albert Pyun’s “Captain America” (soon to be re-released on DVD for the first time — what a coincidence!), but give it a chance, Joe Johnston’s version of the Star-Spangled Avenger might surprise you. Marvel certainly hopes so. The “Captain America: The First Avenger” official site has revealed some new images from the movie.

Brand-spanking new “Captain America: The First Avenger” featurette released by the Internet security people at Norton, which gives well-deserved attention to Captain America’s other prized possession, that shield of his. Let’s face it, no one has a shield like the good Captain, and this 3-minute spot explores that aspect of America’s first super human soldier.

The Russo Brothers Nab Captain America 2 Directing Gig



Last we heard, a trio of directors were in contention to helm Marvel’s sequel to “Captain America: The First Avenger”, now that original director Joe Johnston had said adios. The frontrunners for the cushy gig were down to three names: F. Gary Gray (“Law Abiding Citizen”), George Nolfi (“The Adjustment Bureau”), and brothers Anthony and Joseph Russo.

It appears the Russo brothers have beat out both Nolfi and Gray, and are now close to “finalizing” a deal to direct the comic book sequel.

The Russos are an odd choice to direct. They are known primarily for comedies (“You, Me & Dupree”) and TV sitcoms like “Community”, “Happy Endings”, and “Arrested Development”. Not exactly the kind of resume that would lend itself to a big-budget slam-bang comic book action movie. Then again, Marvel seems to go out of their way to make these “out there” hires. Whoever thought Kenneth Branagh would make a great “Thor” director? Or Shane Black on “Iron Man 3″?

Personally, I would have loved to see what Nolfi could do with the material. He’s one of the “Bourne” movie writers, and his directorial debut, “The Adjustment Bureau” was pretty good.

Chris Evans is set to return as superhsoldier Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, due in theaters the Summer of 2014. Last we saw the good Captain, he had been transported to the modern world, and he’s expected to stay here for his further adventures.
