Only when you take out the capital. If you opt for your dividends to NOT be reinvested into your capital, that dividend will NOT be charged. So technically only the capital.

Domestic Funds are lower risk than Foreign Funds. I like Domestic as well :-)

true for
- no forex risk
- malaysian market go EPF, PNB, Khazanah etc to support

but same way the upside potential also limited
AND, how long can the support continue?

I personally think 25-33% foreign exposure would be nice icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(Catoblepas @ Mar 3 2012, 10:31 AM)
may i know what fund is suitable for monthly sub-sequence investment ?
If let said Jan, i but at 0.666 NAV ( Rm 100 ), Feb at 0.588 NAV ( Rm 100 ).

The price will be average of ( 0.666 + 0.588 ) / 2  ?
*
(RM100 / RM0.666) + (RM100 / RM0.588) = 320.22 units (assuming 0% sales charge)

Average price/cost per unit = RM200 / 320.22 = RM0.6246

If sales charge = 5%, insert this into the calculation
RM100 / 1.05 / RM0.666

Hey pinky, hows life?

Now market looks like a bit cloudy huh? I mean equities.

Im concentrating on balanced funds now. asset allocation as below;

Fixed income securities 34%
Local equities 26%
Foreign equities 21%
Cash 17%
*
U call me Pinky blink.gif

My overall portfolio now:
40%+ equities
60%+/- fixed income
Cash is out of the equation

About 30% is in foreign equities, mix of emerging markets and developed markets
Local equities just 10%+/- of my overall portfolio

My holdings in Eastspring Investments (formerly Prudential) Global Leaders MY Fund which invests mainly in US equities is up 8%++ after only about 2 months shocking.gif

Rather than just hope.

You have it in your portfolio?

How it is compared with Kenanga Growth Fund?
*
I currently don't have it in my portfolio (yet) due to it having >50% invested in Malaysian equities. General Elections coming bro sweat.gif

Will add it to my portfolio after the GE icon_idea.gif

Kenanga - 100% in Malaysian equities
Hwang - 50-70% in Malaysian equities (check its prospectus for its mandate, if I'm not mistaken they can invest up to 50% in foreign markets), Asian focus

Performance-wise, Kenanga slightly outperformed Hwang. If you were to compare their returns, when Asian markets outperformed Malaysian markets, Hwang would outperform Kenanga, and vice versa. icon_rolleyes.gif

If you want a fair comparison, compare Hwang SOF to OSK-UOB Equity Trust, as they're having similar investment mandates. Equity Trust can invest up to 30% of their portfolio in Asia Ex-Japan markets if I'm not mistaken. Hwang SOF outperformed Equity Trust. thumbup.gif

There is something I don't understand.
Great investors such as Warren Buffett, and also many studies by researchers, found that majority of the fund managers underperform the index.
Then how come when I look at the prospectus or the fact sheet of the funds, for the 5-year, 10-year performance, .... all of the funds OUTPERFORM the index???

How come the researchers say one thing, and the fact sheets say the opposite?
*
Yeah, but there are so many different indices out there...if u get what I mean rolleyes.gif

It's almost important to note that what is the benchmark that particular fund is using for historical performance comparison.

Clever thumbup.gif

Pick an "easy" benchmark, automatically makes the fund a "winner" rclxms.gif

Hi,

Went to the bank earlier, wanting to request for a statement on my fund which had paid out the distributions last month. They told me that the statements are only issued every 6 months (eg: June and December).

Is it the case for everyone of you who invested through banks? This is new for me, so just asking around. Thanks!
*
EON Bank can print statement anytime...just tell them the period e.g. from Jan-12 to Mar-12 u wanna print, within seconds can print.

Which bank u talking about? unsure.gif
