QUOTE(rstusa @ May 23 2011, 12:42 PM)
I heard my friend who working in CIMB securities department, she said most of malaysia mutual funds not involve in short selling like futures and options. But I found some mutual funds in SG & HK, they have applied the futures trading in the funds. this is one of the example shown in attachment.

For this example, you can see that the allocation for futures is 73%, ETF 14% and equity just 11%. This mean that if facing economy crisis, this fund still got a way to escape it by trading with futures but if 90% is equity, most likely this fund will go downtrend locking with the crisis.

Thanks RSTusa. That's what i'm planning to do - Asset Allocate a xx% for "IF kaka happens, this automatically...", thus i can focus on other stuff ;P

But always remember futures trading is with higher risk, maybe economy running good, but this futures fund is lossing and maybe not as good as equity performance but this all depends on the fund manager or trader's strategy.

blush.gif cannot help it lar - personal financial planning, $ mgt, risk mgt and investment all numerics. If someone tells U U don't need to be numeric literate, be very very careful with that fellow tongue.gif. U know what usually follow the words "Trust me... would i lie?" brows.gif

Having said that, the numbers aren't rocket science - i'm just an IS/IT fler + my SPM results for general maths is Credit 3 only if i remember correctly, no AdMaths wub.gif

if u r into CIMB funds, u can invest via their CIMB Clicks online banking site. They offer 2.5% service charge for equity funds. Low pricing.
They also carry other mutual funds such as OSK, RHB, AMinvest, HLB funds....most of the equity funds are priced at 2.5% which is deemed low compared to market but still 0.5% higher than www.fundsupermart.com.my

Read the annual report, monthly factsheet and/or prospectus, you can get this online or through PB agents. If you are not willing to find out or do not understand, don't simply buy. rolleyes.gif

Do some homework, it will benefit you greatly with some financial knowledge. sweat.gif

It's ok, we are all still learning. We are here to help you learn. First go and get a copy of the annual report from PM branches. Or get a copy from the website. Look through the holdings and you can see what each fund holds.

Attached below is the monthly fund report (public series) for the month of April. You can check out your fund holdings, performance and other important info. please look through it, and if you need help explaining, we are glad to help. But no spoon feeding... icon_rolleyes.gif

Attached File  PM_April.pdf ( 1.29mb ) Number of downloads: 64
