I will be watching it but I expect it to be something like Iron Man. Good but utterly pedestrian. Nice if turns out to be more than that.

Decent flick... exactly as I expected- very formulaic but executed competently enough. I prefer Iron Man though (and even that wasn't a great movie). Iron Man had better performances and character writing. Chris Hemsworth is a charming guy, but his charms do taper off slightly as the movies moves along. Not to mention Thor's transformation on earth is never convincing, and while individually both Hemsworth and Portman are very good, they don't generate chemistry between them.. unlike say Stark and Peppers. One thing I loved about Stark is how he was actually just as arrogant as he was before the transformation. Thor's arrogance and by extension his charms disappear after his "lesson". Screw that. And Loki, the friggin' god of mischief, was a bore.
That said Asgard looks so pretty, and most of what is good about the movie happens there. Oh and I also prefer Fast Five over this. That was uneven but had some very bright spots. I'll take that over one that is consistently not bad but never moves up a gear ever. This post has been edited by QuickFire: May 4 2011, 10:35 PM |
