Maybe thinking of buying one, but not thick skin /dun have time to try the demos in shop/mall.

Anyone has first hand experience and care to share differences in those models out there? Really give good massage or just make believe?

OSIM is the most expensive and seems the pioneer ... is it the best in terms of massage?

You can try those chairs in 1 Utama, I passed by them every morning in 1Utama new wing.

They have a demonstration of massaging chair and the flab shaker (the horse riding one) over here.

I wonder how's the sales like, seems like a lot of those on display.

Nothing beats the real massage by human hands.

IMHO, I still think its a waste of money to purchase these things. ...especially those machines that SHAKES your wholebody to lose fats...its like wtf man?

I think ppl would get more results by spending that amount of money and join a gym and go on a treadmill. Heck even buy a treadmill and use it at home.

Oh wait....this is about feedback and results of using those chairs..crap..sorry.. >.<

IMO, I think massage chair is not a bad idea.

Reason being that, people might not have the time nor the availability of a transport to go for massage parlour or a massage centre.

IMHO, nothing beats a cheapo massage chair and watching a good movie or tv series at home.

Of course, nothing beats the original.

Surprised you never mention one alternative : Hire fulltime indonesian maid to give only massages everyday rclxms.gif

As for going to gym, etc..... it's a multi-million (if not billion) dollar industry for customers to lose weight without doing anything (eg. diet food/pills, machines/gadgets, any shortcuts.

RM2k x 10 times somemore.

That is way too much to pay for a massaging chair.

I could buy lotsa stuff with RM20k......one decade worth of supplements, several years of massage centre services, 12 years worth of Fitness First Membership @ RM130 per month.

This is definitely for the super rich ones....

Looks like no one has experience at this, I may have to be thick skin to sleep in all 3 of the chairs to try out.

There is one from OSIM which we bought few months ago for 6k+ with promotion.

It's comfortable and the massage is comfortable as well, the chair design is small as compared to other models so it fits nicely in your living room and you can enjoy it while watching TV.

There are some other models out there that cost RM14k+ etc and I don't think it's really worthwhile to get something at this price.

It's best to try it out before you purchase considering the price tag on these items.

Stupid chair is definitely a waste of money.

Get it when you've retired and don't have the strength to exercise anymore.

Real exercise = -fat +muscle +cardiovascular

Finally tried the OSIM products and I'm very impressed.

Tried the UPAPA and it was very good at relieving tired back muscles, especially lower back (bought it).

Tried the USQUEEZE and was impressed again. At highest setting, it was a very strong massage and ticklish for the soles... but by end of session, my aching feet was totally loosened up.... super! Will buy this next.

Tried the USPACE .... man, tis was like a space ship. But for the price tag, I expected more (keeping UPAPA and USQUEEZE in mind). The only thing I like from this was the rollers at the sole of feet .... really tension relieving like REFLEXOLOGY pressure point treatment. The dome is actually nothing ... just to enclose you in darkness for you to concentrate on LED light which changes colors (relaxing) and music. The back and shoulders massage are no big deal.... just rolls over muscles and some shaking.... prefer my handheld massager + upapa, stronger!

Will try iMedic Pro and other chairs next time.

I've tried using OSIM, Ogawa & Oto. Osim's one is too expensive, they came out with a new white massage chair abt RM12k. Frankly I didn't find anything that useful. That massage chair can do exercise but it's isin't strong. besides that what happen if any of the parts get spoiled after ur waranty period... that chair's replaceable parts are more expensive that your car spare parts

Added on May 21, 2008, 4:35 pmbtw, I'm using Oto and my friend using ogawa. but after awhile you'll get bored sad.gif

Here is a bit of my experience.

I'm using Oto and the massage is strong enough for me. However if u use it everyday, you will get fedup/bored. If you use it when you feel very tired or after a hard physical activites... then you will feel nice.

Using the chair once in awhile is also nice but not everyday. This I personally feel about Oto and Ogawa. I've tried Osim chairs in the shop and the sales guy always promote the "shiatsu" massage which is the best feature in Osim... I don't find that exciting...

Another fact is that these chairs are not exercise machines. Got nothing to do with losing weight or any sort of stuff.

Added on May 21, 2008, 7:03 pmOh yeah... another stuff... u need to have alot of space for these massage chairs. These chairs are quite big and you can't place it against the wall.

The chair is good but the price is high for a demo set. Ask them if they are giving warranty or guarantee... coz i know they will give guarantee for only a few months and after that is all on ur own.

I know ppl don't take care much on demo set, imagine how many ppl has sat in the chair. OSIM's outlet is always visited so workout the math. Another thing is that the parts from Osim is super expensive.

i had tried osim, ogawa, and gintell (tried during the promotion).. personally, i think the best massager is still human hand... tongue.gif

i had compared the 3 product before... for the price worthy, i think is owaga, but for the function per se, osim is still the best. but it varies from people to people. so i suggest u to try 1st then only decide. cuz 7300, u can buy a brand new one already...

osim isymphonic.. the price always damn high, even got promo also around 10k... so really up to u

Hi there.. I'm planning to buy Ogawa Comfort massage chair retailed at RM 3999. I had tried it before and quite satisfied with the massage function. For budget under RM4k, I think this is the best. But the Gintell massage chair with Amber chia as the model is also tempting with the RM 3998 price tag. So can any of u give suggestion..or maybe recommendation for massage chair below 4k price tag? Thanks.

Have u bought the massage chair? Yesterday I tried Ogawa Comfort and it was quite good with RM 3999 price tag. Can pay 24 months instalment with Maybank credit card. If your budget is bigger, go for Ogawa Smart 10 retailed at RM 6998.

I wonder y ppl buy such xpensive things. Unless ur old man who thinks he needs a massager to massage away his pain but i dun really believe this works. Should do some research online on these kinds of things.

They r just glorified mechanical motors & parts hidden under a piece of cloth & marketed as a luxurious must have product.

Just my opinion wholly.

Wanna share an experience with you.

Many of my friends will agree that when the chair arrives, it's like a new toy, and you will want to sit on it the whole day. But after a few weeks, the fancy might die off and the massage chair becomes a white elephant in no time.

I know of people who bought massage chair, used it for a while and revert to traditional hand massage again.

Think really hard if you will make really good use of it as it is afterall, not cheap.

If you are refering to OGAWA, feature wise i think OGAWA Sensual is good and I brought one from them. It can pull your leg, extract your body and push your backside like real massage. But if you talk about the service, I have something to say.

Recently I just brought Sensual that cost me RM9600 and delivered to my house on 11 April (with some good free bees, i.e. MobileSeat, Induction Cooker, air purifier). The delivery man basically just tell me that it is easy to operate without probably tested the chair. However due to I went back to my hometown on the same day, I only manage to userstand each of the function from manual and "fully tested" the chair on 13 April night. Unfortunately, the back massage roller doesnt seem to go up and down and the SPA functions stop halfway, not functioning. In that case next day morning I made a call to the service center, the lady told me that she has taken note and will arrange a technician to attend this issue. After few hours I still did not receive any call from them so I call back again for clarification. The lady told me that they need "1 week" to make such arrangement. I was damn angry when heard that. This is not a few hundred ringgit stuff and as a customer, I would expect immediate response and efficiency.

In that case, I made a call to the salesman that service me earlier. He told me that I have right to request for a new chair since this is a new item. He assists me to contact the service center to cancel the report and submit a request of replacing the chair. Eventually the service center called and told me that it would takes aproximately 2 weeks to send me the item (Read the number....2 weeks AGAIN).

However, until today (29 April) I still did not receive any call from them. So i tried to call the salesman again. He said most probably the color that i wanted (brown) is out-of-stock and ask if Im ok to change color. I told him to double check with the service center first.... and now still waiting for him to call back.

What do you think of OGAWA service? Judge it yourself bro. smile.gif

Just bought Ogawa Comfort recently for RM 3998. So far, I'm quite satisfied with it. Why did I bought it? Well, becoz I always had backache problem. Every time I go to traditional massage will cost me RM45, 2 times a month. Now, I can enjoy massage anytime I like, and my back is getting better. True, traditional masssage is better and can't be replaced by machine...but the chair is always there when you need it at anytime, so don't need to disturb your wife if you feel like to have back massage in early morning hours rclxms.gif ( but u still need them for front massage brows.gif ) My parents who are living with me are also enjoying the massage chair...and so is my wife (I can happily retired from becoming her masseur now rclxm9.gif ). Thus, the massage can be enjoyed with everybody in the family at a cheaper price and time convenience compared if u go to traditional massage. And I feel that my quality of life is getting better also. So my point is..some people spend their money on car accessories, home entertainment, golf set, IT gadgets, etc. So there's nothing wrong to spent it for a massage chair that could pampered your body and took away all the stress that you brought home from your work everyday. Just my 2 cents to share...

I just tried my experience @ Ogawa. Smart Mate is better then Comfort, in term of roller, function and comfortability.

If you have budget, can try Smart Aire (Zero Gravity), really comfortable and amazing function.....

Just brought 1, waiting to deliver. haha.....

From my survey, Smart Mate is $4199, after $500 rebate (Promotion), another $500 is for product voucher. But they not strictly from Maybank user....most of the Credit Card (varies Bank) also can get this price.

as my survey la......

My dad bought an Ogawa last year. I'm not sure which model, but it has the thermal thing, with a screen and an inbuilt mp3 player. My dad sits on it and makes sure he gets massage EVERYDAY cos it's right in front of the tv and everybody hops on it while watching tv. Definitely worth the money.
It's very comfortable. It massages from your head to your feet. It's so comfy that my dad always falls asleep on the massage chair.

Was Considering between:
user posted image
Ogawa SmartAire Plus

Or

user posted image
Osim uAstro

Both have the same price tag of RM 8,888.00

The offers I got are:
Ogawa: RM 8888 --> Free Leg Massager worth RM1.5k (alt: Osim uSqueeze) + Free "Osim uMama" thingy worth RM 699
Osim: RM 8888 for chair + RM 1588 for uSqueeze = RM 10,476 --> RM500 Cash Voucher + uMama worth RM 699 + uHead-watever-it-is worth another RM 699 / maybe i might able to nego additional uMist

The reason why i pick those 2 chairs are of their Zero Gravity functionality, which I find to be very comfortable as a bed.
More info on ZeroGravity

Added on October 20, 2010, 12:51 amFinally decided on the Ogawa SmarAire Plus for these reasons:
1.) Finishing Quality is close to Osim
2.) Smooth movement transitions. Ie: When the chair recline, the motion is smooth, no jerk or noisy motors.
3.) Motor sounded "it's quality" product
4.) Most important of all, I got a better deal than Osim.
5.) 2 years warranty compared to Osim's 1 year

Ogawa's leg massager feels comfortable and more function than Osim's uSqueeze but not the built quality.
Osim's uMama is a better product than Ogawa's

Should receive my chair in 2 days or less. Maroon color FTW
Just my 1 cent updates.

congrats on the new massage chair! what is your opinion after using it? I haven't test on Ogawa smartaire before.

Previously I tested on Osim uAstro and last weekend tested on the new Andy lau Osim uDivine. i think the chair is worth more than the price! really comfort. it is like combining the massager and also sound therapy. They have extra offer now i think.

the 1 ringgit massage chair you referring to is the gintell brand that on Tesco? Don't plan to pay 1 shot for Osim massage chair la. it is of course consider expensive for average working people. pay installment still ok. hehe

I am currently planing to buy a massage chair for my parent. Would there be any affordable chair that perform a good massage?

Is GINTELL a good brand? Now there are doing a promotion. Buy gintell gold for rm6988 and get a gintell classic for free!

Would appreciate for any suggestion or recommendation. Thanks.

Oh wait....this is about feedback and results of using those chairs..crap..sorry.. >.<

Why is that old ppl are prone to body aches.. i think they are more likely due to these two: 1.poor circulation 2.joints pain

which is why massaging is good for body aches, but I doubt it helps condition number 2.

I own Ogawa Smartaire. Bought it almost 2.5 years ago. So far so good, does not give me any problem.
BTW, does anybody know whether Ogawa provide service to dismantle the chair and reassemble itback for moving house? I am going to move house soon. Currently, the chair is in a bedroom in 1 st floor an the stairs in my house is small to allow 4 people to carry the chair down. The chair is heavy, and as it is, it will be impossible to for 2 person to carry it down. I saw the Ogawa's staff delivered the chair to my house beore. The chair came in at least 3 different parts and easier to carry by 2 persons. The 2 staffs then assembled the chair. I am going to call O gawa soon whether they can help me with this. I dont mind pay them a little sum of money, rather than risking damaging the chair if I were to simply carry down myself.

Can anyone compare between Ogawa, Gintell and Takasima for budget around RM4k?

I tried Ogawa before (RM3k on promotion recently): Not comfortable.

Gintell Gold: (with thermal function) Satisfied but a bit costly (RM5k)

Takasima En-Amor II latest (RM4.4k deducting freebies): Satisfied but heard people said that Takasima's product is of low quality.

Any advise?

Hi to all,

Actually, I really hesitated and wondered if I should post this cause I may receive lots of brick-bats and rotten eggs thrown at me, not to mention massage chairs manufacturers as well. Not only that, most people may totally disagree with me too. Is it worth the risk?

So, please bear with me for I feel that it is my duty to do so (though I may be receiving many criticism and people judging my intentions etc).

My feedback:

1. I have heard and seen more than 1 case where after a while, users of massage chairs just use their chairs to fold their clothes.

2. I have also heard of someone who wanted to sell his off because he developed shoulder stiffness. Someone in this thread rightly said that it is better to get a human massage because each of our body contours are different, some are taller/shorter, heavier/lighter etc. Therefore, a prolong use of mechanical massage can cause injuries to our internal tissues.

3. I personally met a lady who have faithfully used her massage chair for more than 4 years (until the unit rosak). She had developed back pain, shoulder stiffness, arm and hands pain and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, where she was advised to go for surgery.

4. In the holistic care centre I associate with, these are common stories.

Please, I am not against anybody but just be aware of all these as these are real concerns.

For back pain (yes, many older folks suffer from these) and the need to have a good de-stress at home (who does not need it) there are actually much better alternatives, not to mention cheaper too.

i also looking for a chair to pamper all members in a family. But, only one question keep asking myself; How long will the excitement of having a massage chair lasts? May be it just a short excitement then soon the massage chair will be left unused.

I need to revive this thread as I am considering buying the latest model of uDivine from Osim. Reason is that both my wife and I always have stiff shoulder from all the stress that we got from work and we need massage to destress it. Any reviews on whether its worth it to buy or not? I read some concern where we will develop some symptoms which might require surgery IF we over rely on massage chair. Is this really true?

Osim UDivine App is 16k+ (after discount is 15688) while Osim Udivine is 14k+ (seems to be higher than when it was first lauched...hm....)
both are ultra expensive though they have great function.
Osim Phoria rm2188 which is for leg only.

but the concern is as what Serba said, the parts after 1 year warranty.
if the parts are expensive, then it would be a nightmare.

Btw, how much are these massage chairs anyway?

RM2k is alright anything above that is really a luxury.

Gintell do have 1 cost Rm 2888 and free a foot massager. The chair look smaller but the problem this massage chair only can massage butt and the back, cant even reach shoulder part. And the roller got press on the spine bone , i m not sure its good or not if get press everyday, some said should avoid.

Recently i bought a portable shoulder massager + the foldable chair with infrared function cost less than Rm 600. Its meet all my need. Some time if really feel stiff on muscle i will use the hot blanket or the u shape heat chargeable pillow .The more important thing is must have enough sleep.

If you are lady, mayb can buy a sauna steamer to use at home .

Even when Ogawa comes with an installment plan but when the price is too expensive, we have to pay for such a long period. That's not
good to be in debt for a long period as we have to pay for other utilities. So many consideration must be made as we have commitment on car, house
and others.

If a person is capable to obtain it.. Why not go for it... If you able to pay installment for your parents would you go for it? You dont need take out a huge amount for the upfront.. Just need to manage your money well.

If a person is capable to obtain it.. Why not go for it... If you able to pay installment for your parents would you go for it? You dont need take out a huge amount for the upfront.. Just need to manage your money well.

Everybody is talking about that brand Ogawa? I think if you want a good massage chair you should pay attention Gintell and Osim and than decide which brand is better. As for me, after I have read some reasonable and useful reviews on https://www.bestadvisor.com/foot-massager I decided to buy the Miko Shiatsu foot massager to relax after work it is more capable for the price and !!!lightweight and portable so I can take it whenever I want.

I am currently planing to buy a massage chair for my parent. Would there be any affordable chair that perform a good massage?

Would appreciate for any suggestion or recommendation. Thanks.

There are quite a few reviews here . However, reviews like these, both pro and con, are worth exactly what you pay for them. Hopefully you can get a reply from the manufacturer regarding specifications, as those would be more meaningful as a means to evaluate the product.
