Well, I was at my cousin's place last Sunday and was babysitting my nieces and nephews. Watching those cartoons on Cartoon Network like Cow and Chicken, and SpongeBob Square Pants makes me reminiscence back the old cartoons that I use to watch when I was a kid.

So, can fellow 80s cartoon fans please come on in and talk about your favourite 80s cartoon? (or early-mid 90s also can)

Here's some of my favourites 80s cartoons:

Thundercats : wub.gif Love the theme song!

Dungeons and Dragons : Archers ftw wub.gif

Dino-Riders

Jem : *snorts* This is one of the few girl-theme cartoons that I like.

Snorks : The under-rated one but dang! I love the theme songs so much!

Duck Tales : I used to drive my dad nuts when I kept singing "Duck Tales! Whooo Whooo!"

Of course, there are alot others that I might be missing out. Share your fav here!

laugh.gif Cheetara sounded like a man? I thought it sounded husky-ish. Have to rewatch it again.

Whatever is it, the old cartoons are way way way way better than the new ones being shown on Cartoon Network. Male 'cows' with lactating udders doesn't make any sense. doh.gif

Anyway, I'll post more clips later. Now finding the old cartoons and favouriting them laugh.gif

ok here's my list of favorite 80s-90s cartoon

Wacky Races (My Favorite)
Looney Toons (Road Runner & Coyote is my fav series)
flinstones
jetsons
transformers
pinky and the brain
the simpsons (thank god its still going on)
scooby doo and mystery machine
the archies (comic only)
any William Hanna & Joseph barbera cartoon
[edited] tom & jerry. almost forget this super awesome cartoon. (only like the Fred Quimby/ Hanna & barbera version)
Ren & Stimpy (good nicklodeon cartoon that is banned in malaysia i think cause of violence)

PS: u guys gonna shoot me, Cartoon network production suck monkey balls (cow and chicken etc). No offense but these cartoons have no moral values whatsoever. Compare 70s-80s- early 90s cartoon and todays cartoon, u'll see what i mean.

Eh? The old X-Men cartoon was from the late 70s? doh.gif I thought it was the 80s! But I love the old series. The new X-Men cartoons look so... cartoonish - waspish waist, weird proportions and styles. The old X-Men ftw! Heck, even Jubilee looks awesome!

Wow, I remember most. Although admittingly I was very scared Thundercats and Silverhawks tongue.gif

Care Bears... I wish it would come back. There's new version of the show showing in the US. I used to be scared of the show until I saw the third movie. Now I gila Care Bears (which I sometimes think is a curse because these little critters are hard to find here)

My Little Pony... I still remember my crush on Megan tongue.gif

Jem... Cannot forget. My sis big fan of that show... Act out scenes of the show using her Barbie dolls tongue.gif

Mask... I remember that. I actually like that.

Accessing personal bubble memories cube...

I remember (apart from those already mentioned):
80s:
Amigo and Friends
Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers
Garfield and Friends
Berenstain Bears
Super Mario Brothers Super Show
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the original!)
Teddy Ruxpin
Captain N

90s:
Tiny Toon Adventures
Tale Spin
RugRatS
Arthur
Madeline
My Little Pony Tales
Touch of Blue In The Stars
Cro

You know, Jem was quite an adult-oriented cartoon back during the time it was aired. If you guys noticed, most of the cartoons are quite well... 'cartoonish', if you get what I mean. (In terms of physical appearance) tongue.gif

Anyway, after watching the Snorks intro on YouTube, I've been humming the song for the whole day doh.gif The curse of the tune-that-keeps-replaying day...

eh, how can you miss Centurions : Power Xtreme! one of the most well done cartoon series, superb animation and action packed with damn nice gears!

and then there's STARCOM!

ahh, I don't have Starmax Bomber, but I do have StarWolf and Shadow Vampire and a bunch of others........

Visionaries was kinda cool but too bad it only lasted one season (if I'm not mistaken). Several months back, I was floating around the internet Googling for 'knights, animals, magic, etc' and voila~ I've finally found Visionaries.

Talking about He-Man, my favourite character in the show was the Sorceress. Dang cool looking feathered headgear tongue.gif Did you guys saw the modern reincarnation of He-Man? doh.gif

Extreme Ghostbusters wasn't as nice as the classic one. Only Egon was left and he didn't really do much except make new gadgets, and the new ghostbusters were noisy street kids or hippies...

I agree with you that recent cartoons have the technology yet the content isn't any better, if not worse. Take Batman for example, the 90s Batman: Animated series and the subsequent Batman and Robin follows the dark gothic feel of the comic, yet the most recent "The Batman" is so cheesy that it's not funny at all.

Aiii.. I usd to love Saber Rider. So freaking cool to see him riding his robotic horse. Nowadays kids only get to watch crappy cartoon like Spongebob or lactating male lembu.... very disturbing.

ROFLMAO on this

Born in 1988, quite late for 80's cartoon. But Transformers and Voltron is one of my favorite form the 80's. My cousin have those on tapes (yes, tapes) so I managed to watch it. Basically I follow most of the cartoons from 90s by sitting in front of the idiot box (no internet that time) during the weekend mornings and watch it from morning till noon.

Sadly, those i remember and still like it fondly now is actually not cartoon (except for Transformers which I have to whole collection of G1 and G2 and the movie), it's Power Rangers, Masked Rider (or better know as Black Fertilizer Baja Hitam tongue.gif ) and Ultraman. The Disney, Looney Toon, Tom and Jerry is good for entertainment values though

The theme song really make me LOLed. In the 21st century, he sure can't be summoned by kids because pollution is all over the place.

'Captain Planet, he's our hero. Gonna take pollution down to zero' or something like that.

LOL... the cheesy version.

I feel that the best Batman was the animated series done in 1992... It was dark, gothic, and gloomy; unlike the colourful, funky "The Batman" that came out in recent years.

And to add one more:

Agree.
Nowadays, they only focus on children.
Back then in the 80's, more towards teenagers.

Even the songs were cool and giving inspiration.

The good all days...i watched all cartoons showed by TV1 and TV2 (we didn't have TV3). Last time was more about saving the world and have some moral values too. These days cartoon....no comment.

Big fan of GI Joe , transformer, Ninja Turtle, XMen, ghostbuster, Heatchliff (cool cat and i like the way he thinks), New Kids On the Blocks, back to the future etc (watched too many and cannot recall anymore).

Does any of you watched Kickers, a story about a boy who join the soccer club in his school. There was also a Japanese cartoon (translated to Malay) about a singer and her best friend. Her friend love her but she reject him.

lol , those were the days.

my time was the 90s to early 00 .

Back then , we would wake up at 9am on saturdays and sundays to tune in at cartoons , ranging from tv1 - tv3 ,ntv7 ...
lol , that was fun.

those earlier cartoons such as thundercats and D&D , i watched a few episodes only , on and off.
I remembered I liked Batman , back during 93- onwards? I forgot . I even recorded some of the episodes.
Oh ya , Little Lulu , hahaha .Watched it on and off too.

NINJA BOY aka 忍者元太郎 = this one is funny ! lol , yeah the cantonese version is nicer.

Others I cant really remember , there were so many of them.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but somebody asked about the the cartoon where the characters go about on cables shot out of their backpack.

A bit of sleuthing (Googling actually) came up with a name, and subsequent YouTube vid. wink.gif

Sky Commanders.

I figured we couldn't remember it that well was because the intro was just a silly voiceover.

/far too old for this
