to kill gao ren the easy way, use hammer, super pound his leg when walking and triple pound when his leg isnt moving, if he bend down, go beneath him (to avoid his inner leg), triple pound his head. keep triple pound when u have the chance. no need high raw damage hammer, anvil will do fine, can kill gao ren(kill not repel). if u r still unclear take a look here :

u can remove the def down by eating armor pill or armor seed

if you complete all the training will all the weapon you could get piercing,i myself is trying to finish up all the training quest, left a few to go to obtain different kind of piercing, it depends on which training you complete, either battle, g rank or special. you could also obtain 1 piercing from completing "monster hunter" quest from felyne elder. as i know for completing battle training you will obtain barrage piercing (load up skill), saint sword piercing from special training, aspire piercing for g-rank training and also eagle eye piercing for completing "monster hunter"

actually using SnS is kinda hard, although u can block, it is certainly useful to certain monster, but its best if u learn to use other types of weapon too. your musichammer is actually hunting horn, for solo its damage isn't really high compared to hammer, but its really useful when hunting in groups.

try not to stay infront of akantor and stay on its back right leg, which means is from your view it is left
this way his tail swipe wont be able to reach u and keep focusing on 1 leg and he will fall once stagger damage is applied
keep trying and you'll see clearly his moves are

flash is used when he is charging to u so that he stops
