19 May 2007 -- MALAYSIA, which will play first-time host to the 16th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) next year, is trying hard to net illustrious speakers for the event dubbed as the "Olympics" of the ICT world.
Microsoft chairman Bill Gates is slated to speak at the congress to be held from May 18 to 22 next year, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Other notables being cour- ted by WCIT 2008 organisers include former US president Bill Clinton, Russian president Vladimir Putin, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, real estate magnate Donald Trump and former prime minister of Japan Junichiro Koizumi.
The list of proposed speakers also includes ICT revolutionaries such as Yahoo! chief and co-founder Jerry Yang, Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Satyam chairman Ramalinga Raju, and Wipro Corp chairman Azim Premji.
