Everything about Soccer (サッカ) in Japan! Source: WikiQUOTE Football in Japan has become the most popular sport in the country. Its nation wide organisation, Japan Football Association administers the professional football league, J. League which is the most successful football league in Asia. JFAQUOTE The Japan national football team is the national football team of Japan and is controlled by the Japan Football Association. On July 21, 2006, Bosnian Ivica Osim, who previously coached Yugoslavia and most recently JEF United Ichihara Chiba, took over as manager, succeeding Zico, who had coached Japan from 2002 through the end of Japan's 2006 FIFA World Cup campaign. Osim fell ill in late 2007 and he was replaced by Takeshi Okada, who had taken Japan to the 1998 World Cup.[2] The team is commonly known by the fans and media as Nippon Daihyo (日本代表 "Japanese representatives"), Daihyo (代表 "representatives". Although the team does not have an official nickname, it is often known by the name of the manager. For example, under Ivica Osim, the team is known as Osim Japan. Recently the team has been known or nicknamed as the Blue Samurai. Japan has qualified for the last three consecutive World Cup finals and is a three-time Asian Cup trophy winner. J. LeagueQUOTE The Japan Professional Football League (日本プロサッカーリーグ, Nippon Puro Sakkā Rīgu?), or J. League (Jリーグ, Jei Rīgu?), is the top professional football (soccer) league in Japan and one of the most successful leagues in Asian club football. Currently, J. League Division 1 and 2 falls in to level 1 and level 2 of the Japanese football league system.

The only thing I'm interested about Japanese football is how on earth did they manage to get to that level of quality - considering that we Malaysians already had much successful and better organized leagues even before the J-League started going professional in the 90s.

QUOTE(harrychoo @ May 4 2008, 02:12 AM) lol, why got captain tsubasa on the thread image there Generally because this is more on football in Japan, not specific to any clubs Specifically, the impact of it is felt not only at single-handedly turning football into a Japan obsession, but it had also promote Japan football all around the world » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE * Because of its potential to help promote the sport, Japan Football Association assisted with the development of the Captain Tsubasa series. * Captain Tsubasa has inspired the likes of prominent footballers such as Hidetoshi Nakata,[9] Seigo Narazaki, Zinedine Zidane, Francesco Totti, Fernando Torres and Alessandro Del Piero [10] to play football and choose it as a career. * Some characters in the Captain Tsubasa series are based on real life football players. For example Juan Diaz, Brain Cruyfford and Mark Owairan are based on Diego Maradona, Johan Cruijff and Saeed Al-Owairan respectively. * Real life players such as Yasuhiko Okudera and Ruud Gullit have been actively featured in the manga. * A part of a scene from the famous Nankatsu-Toho Final appeared in another football anime called Pegasus. * There is a small parody of captain Tsubasa in the first episode of "Eyeshield 21" which is an American football anime. * Shaolin Soccer was inspired by Captain Tsubasa.[11] The final shot in the movie, in which the ball mimics the form of a tiger, is based on Hyuga's trademark tiger shot. * In the Arabic dub of the show, Tsubasa is called Majed after the Saudi football star Majed Abdullah. * Recently a Japanese-aid truck in Iraq was decorated with images of Captain Tsubasa, to dissipate people's fear of it, due to the popularity of the program. * In volume 52 of JoJo's Bizarre adventure, inside of Coco Jumbo's stand-created room, there's a Tv showing the face of the protagonist Tsubasa Oozora. * Captain Tsubasa has been very successful in Mexico and other Latin American countries that have a great love for football. In Mexico there were several name changes, as the series being called Super Campeones. Tsubasa Ozora was named Oliver Atom, Kojiro Hyuga was named Steve Hyuga, Genzo Wakabayashi was named Benji Price, Taro Misaki was named Tom Becker and Ken Wakashimazu was named Richard Tex-Tex, among others. Of the most popular characters, Aoi Shingo actually kept his name intact, although he was known as Terry in Spain dubbing. * In Brazil, even though all Japanese family names were retained (except for Roberto, who had his Hongo surname replaced with the nickname Maravilha, which means "wonder"), three of the characters had their given names changed: Ozora was renamed Oliver Tsubasa, Genzo was rebaptized Benji Wakabayashi and Taro was rechristened Carlos Misaki. * Captain Tsubasa was also highly popular in Italy. Entitled "Holly & Benji", most of the characters' Japanese names were changed to English names, such as Oliver "Holly" Hutton (pronounced "Atton") for Captain Tsubasa and Benji Price for Genzo Wakabayashi. Other notable names included Mark Landers, as Tsubasa Ozora's arch-rival Kojiro Hyuga. The team names were also changed to more English sounding names such as the "New Team" for Nankatsu (probably due to the "N" on their jerseys),"Saint Francis" for Shutetsu, "Mambo" for Musashi FC, and "Muppet" for Meiwa FC. Also, in Mexican version, the name for Nankatsu team was changed to Niupi, Meiwa FC was translated to "Franco Canadiense", Toho to "Colegio Superior", Musashi FC to "Colegio Aleman". * As of may 2006 Captain Tsubasa has sold the 7th most copies of any manga serialized in Shounen Jump, out selling series such as Rurouni Kenshin and Yu Yu Hakusho. QUOTE(amz_dreamz @ May 5 2008, 12:31 PM) got several jerseys from J-League, old one (their club name keep changing due to merger etc) Nagoya Grampus Eight, Yomiuri Verdy Kawasaki and Kashima Antlers This time around, Grampus Eight and Antlers are behind the Red Dragons Source: http://goal.com/en-us/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=682578QUOTE Japan: Urawa Stay Top Despite Draw
Yuki Abe gave the Asian champions the lead with 20 minutes remaining but nine minutes later, Takayuki Yoshida equalized for Vissel.
With Nagoya Grampus Eight and champions Kashima Antlers both losing, FC Tokyo move into second, joining Urawa level on points.
The resurgent Gasmen won 3-0 at Omiya Ardija. Yohei Kajiyama opened the scoring after 15 minutes, Brazilian star Cabore made it two just after the half-hour and Yuto Nagatomo sealed the win with 16 minutes remaining.
Nagoya’s second successive defeat came courtesy of Gamba Osaka’s goal-machine Bare. The Brazilian bagged both goals as the Kansai club returned to form with a 2-1 win.
Yoshizumi Ogawa scored Nagoya’s goal but it was sandwiched by Bare’s pair.
Kashima Antlers fell to a 3-2 defeat at Kawakasi Frontale. Kashima led twice in the match through the prolific Marquinhos and Takeshi Aoki but Hiroyuki Taniguchi, Jong Tae-se and Kengo Nakamura got the goals and the three points for the Kanagawa club to take them into fifth.
At the bottom, JEF United are still winless after ten games with the latest defeat coming at home to Kashiwa Reysol.
Consadole Sapporo may be five points better off but are still next to bottom after a 1-0 home defeat inflicted by fellow newly-promoted club Kyoto Sanga.
Elsewhere, Tokyo Verdy downed Yokohama F Marinos 3-2, Oita Trinita defeated Albirex Niigata 3-2 and in the Shizuoka derby Shimizu S-Pulse and Jubilo Iwata drew 1-1.

But the problem is they scored goals using their hands. See the last second world cup final Japan vs China. That goal takahara scored using his hand. Even greater than Maradona. The refree blind one.
