iPhone Modem Apps

user posted image

QUOTE
iPhone Modem for the Cydia jailbreak application repository promises tethering your laptop to your iPhone in just ten seconds. We haven't gotten around to jailbreaking our own yet, but this one is supposedly even easier than the official NetShare tethering app in the official App Store. ModMyiPhone forum says it works just fine on both MacBook and MacBook Pro.

Web Apps Can Mimic Real Apps

user posted image

What you are you seeing in these screenshots may seem like a real iPhone application, but it's not. It's a web page displayed in full screen, completely out of Safari, behaving and looking exactly as any native iPhone program would do. The best thing: It is not a new feature of the incoming iPhone OS 2.2 update: The secret feature is "hidden" in the current 2.1 version and only requires one thing: HTML code embedded in the web page itself. No iPhone modification is required. If you are browsing this from the iPhone, you can try it yourself very easily:

1. Open this link using safari - http://webapp.net.free.fr/Demo/Index.html

2. Click on the + icon and add the page to the iPhone home screen.

3. Go out and click on the saved application.

Download iThmbConv.exe from Here

Step 1

There are also a couple files that you need to download off of your iPhone before you can convert them. Use a program like iPhoneBrowser or iBrickr.

The files are:
Photo Database
F3004_1.ithmb
F3008_1.ithmb
F3009_1.ithmb
F3011_1.ithmb

They are located at:
/var/Mobile/Media/Photos/
and
/var/Mobile/Media/Photos/Thumbs

Step 2

Copy all five files and the program to:
C:\tmp
(Note: the directory is not important, but this is for simplicity.)

Step 3

Click Start > Run.
Type "cmd" and hit enter.
This will bring up the command prompt.

Step 4

Now you need to navigate to the folder that you downloaded the five files at.
Type "cd c:\tmp" and hit enter.

Step 5

Now type "iThmbConv.exe"
There will be a list of examples on how to use the program.

Step 6

Type "iThmbConv c:\tmp\F3008_1.ithmb" and hit enter.
Note: be sure that this file is the largest one you downloaded, if it isn't, choose the one that is.

Step 7

You will now have a bunch of files in your tmp directory that have a .ppm extension.
You can open these files using Photoshop and save them as you want.
You could even use a batch to convert them all at one time.

Or you can use irFanview to view and convert the *.ppm files ..
