Yeah, I know how you feel. 40 over suits? Why cannot deploy all of them to take out the attack helicopters in the beginning?
It was implied in the movie... when the first missile hit the opening to the suits was more or less covered... cutting off Tony from Mk. 8 to 41, However he had Mk. 1 to 7 on display, and ....

Only Mk.7 was presumed to be autonomous, but perhaps not ready or can be controlled by Jarvis, Mk. 1 - 7 was destroyed not long long after, first to go being Mk. 7.... So, Tony only had Mk. 42 until the rubble was cleared.

There are many holes/bad plots in the movie... This is not one..

Perhaps some brigadiers cannot logic out 3000 degrees Celsius ?  wink.gif
No organic organism can withstand 3000 C... I suppose it's fine that's the death/exploding temperature of the Extremis humans... Let's just say Killian etc can achieve 2500C and above to melt most metals.

Let's just say Iron Man made some of his suit out of some Tungsten composite (with heat protection barrier), it should be able to readily handle temperatures above 3000C and not be melted apart.

Besides melting of handcuffs on Tony... for the chain to be melted off Tony's wrist should have suffered severe burns.

I dislike the 'bad surprise' i was totally yawn.gif when Tony found Mandarin.

Example of 'good surprise' the twisted game by Joker in The Dark Knight.

Also noticed how Avengers screwed other Marvels movie, they have to mention ALIENS from other universe in their movie. I'm ok with the man with the hammer though biggrin.gif
Aliens from the same universe/dimension....

I've no problem with the ending credit scene... could be done better.... but what I've problem the the rest of the movie, I had high hopes it'll be good (Biggest Box-office this year) against the even more illogical super-powered Alien from DC...

Box-office wise, I suppose it'll reach half a billion... A billion would be difficult

Well BO update.... A billion is a sure thing...949 Million so far till 12 May...

Iron Man will appear in Avengers 2..... Joss Whedon more or less confirmed it..

Well IM3 is RDJ's 4th outing... Avengers 2 will be the 5th... IM4 is not in Marvels's planning yet... It maybe announced at around the time Avengers 2 starts filming or after Avengers 2... or SDCC of that year 2015...

Avengers 2 in April/May followed by Antman in Nov. 2015

1. Lightning or Thor's lightning is not hotter than the sun's surface... Electricity.. metal conducts..
2. There are few metals that can withstand temperatures above 3k C.
3. Extermis and powers associated to it are too far fetch..
4. Fire/flames/heat/temperature are not quite the same thing... alcohol for instance burns at low temperature.

It over a billion in earnings now..... in my opinion undeserving... Malaysian don't help, biggest movie BO take in history

Overall just poor plot on the extremis..

QUOTE(xin @ May 14 2013, 11:38 AM)
8. Why do some of them blew up?
Because the bodies can't regulate the virus. Extremis comic mentioned that the virus can only accomodate certain DNA, those that are not suitable will not fuse with the virus and die.

9. What makes Potts survived the virus?
Because Potts' body accepted the virus. DNA compatibility

i try to answer some, i just watched the China version of it.

Here's some real scientific basis of biological/genomic break-down trivia/info:

1. Finding markers of DNA compatibility can be done easily. You don't have to give your life to test it out. It certainly can be done in 2005 when the Extremis storyline was written.

2. There has to be some reality check, Whole human genome is already available and to sequence each individual's genome is rather cheap now, RM3 to 5k.

3. To attribute all the fantastic powers to a viral treatment/DNA is too convenient. Even the premise of mutants (in the initial X-Men) are not as ambitious as propose in IM3. It would have been better if Extremis is just another form of Super Soldier method keeping with theme from Incredible Hulk, Cap. America, and not lump-all-in-one like Deadpool of Wolverine origins (a really-bad movie). Breathing fire, exploding, melting metal, spontaneous healing is just too much... (Note: There fire breathing and electricity generation in the comics too)...

From the China version, it's good to know that Extremis story/plot dies with IM3.... Being the Heart operation has nothing to do with Extremis.... And Avengers 2 does not have to deal with the Nonsense Baggage (but profitable) of IM3. Hopefully the only real legacy of IM3 would be just no ArcReactor in Tony's chest.

QUOTE
14. I thought the suits should be connected with the core in his chest?? Yet he charged the suit using car batteries??
Don't you think it's better to have another method to charge the suit rather than just the electromagnetic power source? He needs to charge the suit faster hence the car batteries.

Bad writing and the director not understanding the basis in IM1, IM2 and Avengers, The ArcReactor is instant clean energy, totally un-tap with Mk. 42 with uses "slow" charging of power-mains or the boat motor (turning a electromagnetic turbine/dynomo).... Mk. 8 to Mk. 41 are presumed to have their own sustaining ArcReactors, but not the prodigal Son (Mk. 42).... Ignore what comes before and put it plots whatever suits the story...
