1. resetting the phone (reflash firmware) will bring you back to original state. you need to jailbreak and unlock your iphone.
2. don't use itunes auto update your iphone's firmware, you need to download the firmware and update (flash) to your iphone manually.

good luck!!

Waaaa ... what's this?

@jasonlau
Reseting the phone is not the same as restoring the phone. Restoring is like formating your phone or what you call reflash firmware. Reseting the phone will bring the phone back to original setting not state i.e like u have not set it yet. It will not relock the phone. Jailbreak, activate and unlock still intact. So get your fact straight and don't confuse others.

@alpha_boy
I suggest you to restore the phone back. I think some setting/preferences got corrupted. Download the IPSW file from i.unlock.no and keep it for later use (if you haven't done it yet). Once you have the IPSW file (make sure its for iphone and not ipod touch or you'll be screwed), connect your phone to itunes and press SHIFT + RESTORE. A window will pop up asking for the IPSW file. Restore it and wait to finish. Then use iLiberty+ (www.ipluspwns.com) to do the jailbreak/activate. For unlocking ... i recommend using bootneuter. Remember one thing ... when itunes ask if u want to set the phone as new or the one you already backup .... choose to set up as new. Sometimes itunes will backup the corrupted setting and if you restore from that backup ... you'll end up with the same thing.

Phew that was long. If anything else not clear then you know where to find help.

i've mentioned in bracket as reflash firmware. soft reset doesnt help.

I know you put it in bracket but you tied it to the term 'Reseting the phone'. Like I said ... don't confuse people as i see you are confuse. Reset and Restore are 2 different term.

And one more thing ... iPhone don't have soft reset or hard reset like PDAs. You can REBOOT the phone as in holding the power and home button until u see the apple logo and release both. Or you can power it off/on and thats called RESTART.

RESET in the other hand is reseting the setting i.e go to SETTING --> GENERAL -->RESET. In there you can reset ALL SETTING, ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS, RESET KEYBOARD DICTIONARY, RESET NETWORK SETTING and RESET HOME SCREEN LAYOUT.

RESTORE means flashing the firmware to any version you like. Its like formating the pc to install the OS. Restore in iPhone have 2 level, normal restore and DFU restore.

I'm not here to flame anyone ... just trying to get the fact straight.

Switching it off/on again won't solve the problem. Maybe it solve (temporarily for now) for u but i can bet it will rise again.
