I bought an galaxy 9600GSO OC card(8 memchip) and i tried the 08m.rom and the bios.rom file too but i had only 384MBram and 192 bit memory interface
if i tried the 08m.rom then nothing is changed absolutely in gpuz or rivatuner.
If i tried the bios.rom then gpuz showed strange values but still 384MB ram and the performance was the same. no performance increase
i dont know why. i thought if i mod the card then it will be 512mb/256 bit and if i am not lucky there will be artifact in games. but the mod is not working

finally i found an albatron 8800GTS512mb bios and i thied that too but then i had only 192MB of memory :S so that wasnt good too

Any suggestion?

and could u please correct the link of the original galaxy 9600gso bios what is in the first page.
i made a copy of mine but now i flassed that and the comuter didnt want to turn on just after i reseted it. so maybe my saved bios is wrong.

So are u saying if i try an another galaxy 9600gso then it wont be good too? and this is not my vga card defect?
I have an Asus P5B motherboard with the newest bios.

do u think worth to try to put it to my brothers gigabyte p35 ds3-r board? and meybe there will be good the mod?

and now i have an another problem: Today i tried an galaxy 8800gts 512Mb bios and after i flashed my computer didnt want to start up. it gave only beeps. i tried reset ctrl+alt+del didt used.
i turned off the computer and 5 minutes later it started with 8800gts512 bios but still had 192MB ram 192bit inferface so i flashed the original 9600gso bios to it. it was good for 2-3 restart and a few minutes ago my computer didnt start again(like 8800gts512 bios). beeping but no monitor signal. i turned off the computer for a while and it works now but i dont know why did this with the original bios.
when last happened this then i tried overclocking the card and i overclocked too much... maybe this was the problem but it shouldnt do this from the OC.

and my card not a good overclockable the highest stable clocks: 650/1650/2200 so far. i thoutht it will be better.

Added on June 17, 2008, 6:05 pmand a bit correction. i said nothing is changed in gpuz with modded bios(08m.rom) but the gpuz shows another bios version for the card so the modded bios is flashed right.
do u still think this may be motherboard problem? or if the flash succeded then not the motherboard what is bad.

i started the OC with gpu/shadders and just after oced the memory. 3dmark frozen when the gpu was at 700MHz or the shadders on 1700

i dont see the pin numbert but if the pin 1 start from up then it is on 2-3 on default....
the temperature doesnt goes up above 65C.

what mobos was tested what were good and what were bad?

i tried the card in my brothers gigabyte p35-DS3R mobo but it is the same.... 384MB/192 bit 96 Shadder
and i put the jumper 2-3.i hope the the oc will be better now.

an final question: vga driver version doesnt matter? this mod work with all new driver?

but i dont see with neither motherboard

if i remember well it says 384mb. i just dont know it is because the card or the motherboard....
i hope i can get an another vga and it will be good.

and the flash was succesfull and it uses probably the the new flashed bios because the vga bios version is changed after flashing...
so i think not the mobo is the problem.but i think only. i dont have another mobo to try

i use rivatuner.

tomorow i will get an another galaxy 9600gso oc and this will be a bit more expensive so probably this is a new shipping. i hope the mod will work on that card...
if not i will go to my friend to test it with other mobos
but i dont wana buy a new motherboard

u said u bought a 9600gso but in your signature there is a 9600gt.

i have noticed now i had only 6memchip galaxy 9600gso oc and the new one had 6 chip too
so that was the cause i couldnt mod my card

is the unused shadders linked do unused memory controller? so thath is the cause why cant unlock the shadders/rops with 6 memchip gso cards? or they are not linked and another thing is the shadders and the memory controller tweak?
IF the second one is the true why cant turn on the shadders/rops?

yeah. i am waiting for new rivatuner but i dont know it could help.if the memory controller and the shadders are linked then no chance to unlock the shadders. if they are not linked in architecture then there is a chance, but in this case this bios mod should enable the shadders/rops even the memory still 384MB?
so i affraid the new rivatuner wont help me

i have got the another galaxy 9600gso oc. it has still 6 memchip and the mod is now working but this is overclockable. 700/1800/1150 so far.

i have a memory question too:
if the card's memory is 0,8ns memory why canot overclockable to at least 2500MHz? if i know well the theoretichal speed of the 0,8ns ram is 2500mhz(1000/0,8=1250MHz and it is 2500 in DDR). does it has lower voltage than the reference or it has smaller latency and that is the cause?
i dont understand.

I dont know how important. i am just curious why is that. many 1ns ram overclockable to 2,1-2,2GHz and the 0,8ns just 2,3GHz?strange.
2700-2800MHz would be real i think. If the voltage is low for the ram then it is OK but if it is normal then how can i raise its Voltage? is it adjustable from bios?
but are u sure it is because of the low voltage?

so architectural limitation maybe? the ddr3 architecture limit?

Edit: this bios is my galaxy 9600gso oc bios what has 6 memchip only not 8! probably the 2 bios(6chip and 8 chip cards) is the same but i am not sure.
