my personal experience from my humble peasant setup..... i encountered a lot of noise and jaggies issue when upscale dvd to 1080i which did not show up in 720p, could just be my dvd player.

bottom line is, 1080i < 720p < 1080p

according to the professionals...unless we have another einstein who wants to challenge the theory of gravity whistling.gif

see the youtube video and u will understand. if 1080i and 1080p no difference, 1080p = 1080 horizontal lines, 1080i also 1080 horizontal lines? if that is the case, why hd lcd have a resolution of 1366x768 (768 horizontal lines) instead of 1920x1080 (1080 horizontal lines)?

Because interlace is flickered of 2 images, 1080i=540p
progressive is still image.

guys.... ultimately how well 1080i looks on your lcd / plasma tv depends on how good your video processor is at de-interlacing the signal. Apparently my Sony is crap at it. blush.gif
