Gold looks nicer because of the contrast. However, it really depends on what she's wearing. A necklace is an accessory, so it'll have to compliment her outfit. Sometimes, silver is better for that.
I think recently msn changed their "appear offline" protocol also. Last time I remember people can appear offline and still chat with people they want. I noticed that now, if someone appears offline, your messages won't reach them.
