Subang Parade will be the centre of attraction again and this time it will be for The Orange Box Party! Featuring the first ever local Team Fortress 2 tournament, it will surely satiate the thirst of the FPS crowd. Not to forget our Counter Strike players, the CS 1.6 Amateur Cup 2008 tournament will also be under way. So don't forget to train up and get your crosshairs steady and dead centre on the competition. The fun doesn't end there because Subang Parade shoppers will be able to use their receipts (RM 100 or more in a single receipt) to receive discounts on our retail packs which we will be selling on that day. So keep your calendar clear for the 5th to 8th of June.

Well we already have the tournament drafted with prizes and such. However, Online E-Club would also like to see if there will be any teams participating. Which is why we are asking here. No use to make a tournament but no one joining. tongue.gif

QUOTE(GMG @ May 1 2008, 09:14 PM)
Hi, you might wish to review the scoring system for dustbowl and gravelpit, the scoring system that you have stated seems to be based on the old scoring system.
*
Ah the rules are kinda outdated now. Do you have any idea on the updated scoring system for this tournament?

QUOTE(trogdor1oh1 @ May 3 2008, 08:26 PM)
i'll definetely try my best to come.
will i have to bring my own laptop?because if i do,i have to bring a stand for it,and a big fan right next to it blasting off.
yep,my laptop cooling sucks, but its the best computer in my house...
*
There will be PCs for the tournament of course.

QUOTE(afoka @ May 4 2008, 10:18 AM)

*
The tournament is on the latest patch. Sigh, the new patch made it a little difficult but lets see what we can do to update the rules. As I said, any suggestions or if you guys have insight on any updated TF2 rules, please speak up.

Thanks for the links on rules guys. I will definitely check it out. Btw, I have updated the thread topic and first post for The Orange Box Party @ Subang Parade. Any more information on TF2 stuff (ie tourneys, competition rules) would be more than welcome to fine tune this.

Pro teams won't be allowed to join the CS Amateur Cup, just like the last time it was held.

At this moment in time, we haven't decided what would the entrance fee be, if any. The registration window will start one day before the tournament until the tournament day, before the tournament starts (there will be a time for the registration period to end). We will post up the registration forms online so you guys can print it up and fill 'em and give it to us straight.

I just want to make sure that the GameSync league format is 1 map per match right? I was reading ETF2L format as well and they are best 2 out of 3 maps on one match.

I'd rather go with the gamesync format instead of the stopwatch since it is more time friendly.

Regarding the question on people who wants to join both tournaments ... I think the answer is pretty obvious. We will not delay any matches just because one team has a match at the same time in the other tournament. Just like a pro gamer, it is time to weigh your options and make your decision. smile.gif

can a team join both eswc and amateur cup?

for an example, team a joins eswc and lost then team a joins amateur cup.
*
As long as it doesn't clash, fine. From the poster, it seems there will be one day of clashing. The specifics of the schedule is still in planning phase. We have a list of pro teams and players that will be ... refrained from joining the Amateur Cup.

We will release the registration forms online so you can make copies out of it and fill it up. The registration day will be one day before the tournament until the tournament morning. You have that duration to hand in the registration forms. At the same time, we will have the forms at our booth for you to fill up.

Concerning TF2 team size, it is decided that the tournament will be a 5vs5 instead because of certain constraints. So TF2 teams, please be aware.

When the registration forms are made available, I will announce it and of course the download links will be supplied as well.

Regarding the TF2 team format, yeah it sucks having to do it 5 on 5 but we are still reviewing this and seeing if 6 on 6 format can work with our limited resources.

As the other stuff, I will update the OP when such information will be made available.

Don't worry guys, just train up. When we have finalized the stuff, I will post it up here.

Ok guys most of the stuff is coming together.

I have a question though regarding the stopwatch in TF2. It is for use in cp_dustbowl and cp_gravelpit when both teams capture all 6 points correct? How is this feature used to determine the winner then? Anyone can explain it in detail.

Can clarify further? Do we need to go on the 5th and 6th for Team Fortress 2? I am working and I don't want to take any further leaves as I already taken some for the WCG Asian
*
No, the TF2 tournament and Amateur Cup is on the 7th and 8th. So come early if you are entering. It's all in the OP.

Regarding equipment. There will be keyboard and mouse. Headphones we can provide although limited. Usually gamers bring their own gear (ie mouse, headphones and sometimes, even keyboards). For tournaments, speakers are not used because if you use speakers, your opponents can hear you and know what you are doing. That is the last thing you want.
