dun quite understand the bass boombax thing, if u wan to put sub u need to buy an amp for the front speakers too cos the bass from the sub will cover the surround sound making it over bass.

if you wan heavy bass then add a 12" sub woofer and amp like my waja... i stick wif the stock clarion speakers, unless you wan louder sound then consider to upgrade it... i think the HU no need change gua, but mine i change because rosak jor... and for the sub woofer, there are many kinds of setup 1... some the bass its like boom boom boom, and some its doom doom doom... more solid bass, depends on the setup...

i think best way for u is get a mono amp or 4 ch amp bridged to power 2 12", the bass is sufficient, then get another 4ch amp to power ur surround speakers. If dun change HU better go for mid ranged products nothing over 1k per piece... If budget allows, i suggest u to change ur front speakers to component. Try using boschmann, cheap and loud, quality not bad for starters. I think whole system takes about 3k with installation.

how the bass sounds is all depend on ur crossover settings, lower frequency means softer, deeper bass, gud for RnB, Hip Hop kinda music, Higher frequency means more solid / hard bass, Gud for rock, pop, dance music.

wow thanks for the idea guys. probably need to do some shopping. window shopping 1st laugh.gif

but so far i only can see myself adding 1x 12" woofer and AMP if its sufficient. Just wanna get some feel, rest of the bucks need to invest somewhere else tongue.gif

certainly sticking with stock hu since the HU match the car..if change to other single din or even double din it still looks weird

I just spend RM300 for the sub-woofer and amp... 2nd hand 1, friends 1... biggrin.gif his mother dont allow his father to fix it in her car, and his son driving tiara the boot too small, so he ask me if i want it, take it at 300 lo... lucky me, 1st hand cost about 800... others i stick with stock, no point upgrade unless spoi...

i think SQ or SPL is all depend on individual, Some love the pressure of sound and vibration, others might juz love the music.

becoz ppl percepts SQ to have more tuning, more staging... and some think more class. you tell other ppl you play SQ, ppl like wahhh.

SPL is all about loud and bass. u got money to spend on buying better woofer and amp, the better. but people will think SPL is just to show off how loud your car is.

Thats y people think sq is better, SQ talk about quality... as what i see la of coz.

yes. very depending. some wan to hear thumps of bass when playing RnB or bass tracks. while some is more to clarity of the vocals and staging. for me, i would just make it acceptable for both issue since i am no ICE player and i listen to MP3 only.
