hi, my P1i accidentally fell off from 60-70m height....
thanks to the field and sandy ground, there hasn't much damage physically on the phone..
it's still working tho.. the problem is the touch screen isn't working anymore..
so, i'm wanna ask if any had a opinion as well guiding to the good shop and estimate the cost to fix it..
thx for the suggestion..

another question, is there a way to answer a phone call by keypad?(now i used to attached handsfree to answer the phone..
*
wow..60-70M is like falling from 2nd/3rd floor of a condo to the ground. shocking.gif

mind to tell us how did it happened?

anyway, would advise you to get the screen repaired @ Authorised SE Centres. as normal shops might used recond spare parts for the repair. not quite sure aout the price though. you can try asking HERE. smile.gif

regarding answering calls using keypad, i've never tried it before. not sure whether does P1i has this function. blush.gif

hey guys, need your help.

check this out, this guy selling his p1i for RM850 (he can give me)

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/711889

but loads of scratches... i personally cant see scratches, very particular, but do you think it's worth the buy? then change covers which cost RM280? so RM850 + 280 = RM1130.

worth it? but it is ori set thou
*
it said 'mint condition' right? so should not be any scratches wert. anyway, new one retailing @ RM15XX. if it looks new & comes with another 8 months warranty then should be a good buy for an ori set. if the casing needed to be changed then i don't think its not worth it. rather get a new AP set. smile.gif

Hi guys.. Another new P1i user reporting in. Upgraded from K800i to this phone. Awesome! Oh yea.. Just wander, what type of pouch are u guys using for P1i? The original pouch thats come with the set is nice, but just it doesnt cover the top part when u put the phone in. sad.gif
*
congrats! happy joining the big family.. rclxms.gif

try get the Capdase leather pouch, sold @ RM108 @ Berjaya Times Square. very elegant & business looking. if it's way over your budget, get the unbranded ones @ Low Yat Plaza, RM30, sold @ handphone accessories wholesale shops. (eg. Gelant)

if you want a casual look, get the Golla pouch, priced @ around RM40, comes with 10 years warranty. smile.gif

I used the original pouch too... then one day my phone came out gooey and sticky around the sides  rclxub.gif

Turns out the pouch is made from two pieces that are GLUED and sewn together... the glue must have became all melty in the hot weather and touched the phone's sides. Now using some chapalang pouch first until I find a nicer one  blink.gif

Added on June 7, 2008, 1:02 pmApologies before hand if this topic has been covered elsewhere, but just to let other P1i users know that since the launch of the SE G900, some kind chap has ported the native "torchlight" and new "notes" function in it for use in the P1i!

So now finally I can use the torchlight on my phone without turning the camera on! Woot!
*
where to get the torchlight & extra notes function? drool.gif

and for the pouch, y dont ya all get a silicon casing? since the screen is bound to get dirty even if its kept in a pouch, might as well leave it in d pocket with just a screen protector? ive been using silicon for awhile now. no prob. although must wipe the dust bout once a week to make sure doesnt stick to d fon... cool2.gif  cool2.gif  cool2.gif  cool2.gif

silicon cases tend to attracts dusts right? when the dusts are trapped in between the spaces of the phone & the case for a long time, they tends to stick on the phone. which then will be hard to remove. experienced it when using both silicon & crystal case. unless you clean 'em frequently.

@fylon
you're welcme, mate. glad to help. enjoy your phone. smile.gif

ok...the torch functions really good
about the notes app, it will make the default one cannot work...i read in ipmart forum, its due to overlap between the ori and the g900 notes...then if u wanna return back to the default one...need to delete the g900 notes folder (but dunno y, after delete it, the default one still cannot work  sad.gif )

it does attract dust, so clean it once in awhile. i bought d "high" quality ones @rm30 fr novacell.. better than pouch cuz im a heavy smser.. troublesome to remove d pouch. and droped my phone 3times already fr waist height, no sratches so far.. hehe
bluehyppo, thanks for the apps. thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

@squall_kay,

what extra functions do the new notes have? might need to reflash to make the old one work back? i wanna play around with the torch function but haven't did the system hack yet.

@jcmf,

drop from waist height & no scratches or dents? that's good protection. impressed. smile.gif

but somehow i still love my P1i naked. can see the brushed metal..elegant. thumbup.gif laugh.gif

and i dont have the pouch... at first was kinda sad cz gt rip off, after reading bout the glue, i change my mind. haha.
no offence. heehe
Carnage11
isnt it difficult to always open and take the fon out of the golla pouch? just curious. haha.
*
u seems to take such good care of your phone. good thing. thumbup.gif

don't think the pouch that comes with the phone package is really good 'cause the cloth is so thin, plus it can't really cover the phone in full. mine still kept new in the box. biggrin.gif

i would really recommend the Golla pouch. although its kinda expensive for a simple phone pouch as most people would go for the pasar malam ones. wanted to get the Capdase pouch at first but feel that since this pouch serves me well, rather save the money to upgrade M2 or something. anyway, here's the photo of it :

Attached Image
Attached Image

it's not hard taking out the phone from the pouch. protects it well since it's larger than the phone itself & it's waterproof. the only thing it lacks is drop-protection as it does not have any sponge. sweat.gif

been using it for almost 3 months & after excessive taking it in & out from pockets, it's still looks new. rclxms.gif

laugh.gif does your set comes with Chinese strokes on the keypad & there's Shinese wordings on the battery & inner part of the phone? just checked with my friend's set too. he got it from Comsat. has the same defects like ours. so i guess those Chinese sets have this problem, as most suppliers get theirs from China nowadays. unlike earlier batches.

I'm in china, I can tell u that, I won't even take the P1c, here in shanghai you can easily go to some black market and get a full featured P1i with even lower (a lot) price, then why bother P1c with no WiFi? lol

i don't know much where these P1i's are from, maybe illegally taken from outsourcing factories only for exporting? mine is originally CDA/8, then flushed to 95 following tips here, cheers smile.gif

just check my keypad and battery, only english chars. vola.
*
it sounds possible. previous batches of P1i doesn't have this Chinese chars. my manufacturing date is 08W15.
where did u get your P1i from? will try to get a camera to take a photo of the Chinese chars later.

EDIT :

battery manufactured on 07W45. Chinese chars on keypad, battery & sticker @ battery compartment. original CDA is Singapore.

I am a SE K550i owner, but recently my friend want to sold out his P1i which (6months old) looks pretty new to me for HKD1500 (I am in HK now).
Do you it is a worth deal to upgrade?

And, what are the things that need to be taken into consideration?

Thanks alot...  thumbup.gif
*
kinda sad seeing my set is with Chinese chars. but anyhow, guess all all of 'em are made in China nowadays. as long as it doesn't gives any problem then it's fine for me. i'm loving it for now.. wub.gif blush.gif

the front plate is full brushed metal, and the back is plastic with metal-look.

HKD1500 = around RM750-800 right? is it a HK or local set? 'cause if its from HK i think u gotta consider the warranty if u're based in M'sia. gotta send it back there if there's any problem or u'll be charged for a fee for repairing it here. smile.gif

nothing much to have attention to actually, make sure it comes with full set & check the camera green tint issue. smile.gif

I'm not sure whether is the phone problem, or the line problem.
Recently(almost a month), I facing SMS sending and receiving problems, especially on the receiving part.
People do sent me sms'es, and its either the sms'es delayed(for like 10 minutes, to few hours), or totally I didn't receive those sms'es at all.
Any of you facing this problem?
I'm staying in Penang, to be exact Butterworth, and am using Maxis postpaid line.
*
@fylon
something like recond sets maybe? P1i is known as P1c in China. they might have use parts from P1c or totally recond P1c into P1i. 'cause only P1c is available in China. anyway, it's just a thought. might not be true. China may have factories produced P1i with Chinese chars to be exported to other countries. like what i've said, as long as the phone doesn't give us any problem, there's nothing to worried about. i brought up this topic 'cause i'm curious about the origin of our sets since its with Chinese chars.

@Shufflerz
haven't face problem like this before but should be problem with the telco's network. i faced a really weird problem before when using my previous M600i. SMS sent to selected numbers will not be delivered but i can receive SMS from everyone. first i thought it was the phone's problem so i sent it for a firmware update & reflash, but the problem still persist.

i tried went to Maxis centre to replace my sim card but the problem stays. Maxis personnel & myself tried other sim cards on my phone & all of them works like normal. finally, i resorted to changing my number to a new number (i was quite frustrated with the problem). and everything works like normal again. isn't it weird? sweat.gif

EDIT :

faced the same problem like gogoman86 & ben3003 as well. the phone is active but somehow SMS & calls are not coming in until did a restart. but that happened only once. smile.gif

Oh yea.. Guys, i've just download a theme from IP-Mart, its named as iPhone Smoke in black. But then, after i unrar it. I found there is many folders & files inside (its because of the theme has customized icon and etcs). So i wander, where should i put the theme & the files to?

P/s: Oh.. And also the icon. laugh.gif The theme comes with a iccn pack as well. blush.gif

think the icons are separated from the theme. you can put 'em in a separate folder & customise your icons from there. just like how you always change your icons even without changing the theme. smile.gif
