Damn, the EEE 900 (Linux) is pretty buggy when coming out of suspend mode. It's died on me 3 times today.

QUOTE(jdreamer @ May 16 2008, 10:13 PM) If I am going to need something that can get me online, do some assignments (words, excel, etc), music and movies, mild downloading, is EEE PC something for me? No, you didn't mention mobility at all, so I don't think the EEE PC is something for you. Get a cheap laptop - it's much more comfortable to use.Added on May 18, 2008, 8:53 amI'm currently using my EEE to do casual ebook reading on-the-go. Still haven't setup PPP on it so I can't use 3G yet.. but it should be soon |

One of the problems with the EEE keyboard is its lack of dedicted PgUp/Down keys. They are overloaded into the Up/Down keys where you need to press it in conjunction with Fn.
This makes it impossible to scroll in most apps using only one hand!! An exception is Adobe Reader, where you can use rightShift + Up/Down. |

OK, if you think so
I suggest that you at least get a USB keyboard+mouse to use when you're docked at a desk. Using the EEE sure gets me funny looks on the streets. A fair number of people have come up to ask me about it. Finally got 3G hooked up through my Nokia today, and it's starting to fulfill my expectations |

QUOTE(jdreamer @ May 20 2008, 01:54 AM) Actually, it is my girlfriend who wants to get one. She is going to study abroad. That's why she is currently looking for a light-weighted notebook which serves the purposes that I stated earlier. Sure.. let us know how she finds it. I'm not convinced that it's the right solution, but if she uses it productively, what can I say |

Yeah they stuffed up the EEE 900 specs there - it definitely doesn't have bluetooth.
Now I'm torn between getting a $40 USB mini-bt adapter, or going for a $200 USB HSDPA modem. |
