i am getting an eee soon. my only concern is about the sensitivity of the wifi adapter on 700/900, which performs better? in terms of detecting the signal at a further distance?

Any EEEPC 900 30GB Hdd user here? I would like to recommend you guys to replace the hdd.

As  we all know, eeepc 900 30GB hdd is damn slow due to the usage of 1.8" HDD and consume a lot of energy. But today, i bought 32GB Samsung 1.8" SSD.  According to datasheet, this samsung ssd can read up to 57MB/s and write up to 38MB/s compare to normal 1.8" HDD read speed around 30MB/s and 20MB/s write speed. Even SSD installed inside eeepc900 and eeepc 901 ssd version can achieve 40MB/s read speed and 20MB/s write speed only.

Below is my old hdd that has been replaced by the ssd drive

As expected, this SSD is super fast. I manage to install windows XP in 12 minutes only. Boot time is around 30 seconds.
I also did some benchmark.

New 32GB Samsung SSD

As u can see. The gap is very high. Average speed 2.5x better. Also, access rate improved significantly. Only 0.3ms compare to 33.7 ms. I'm very satisfied with this SSD drive. Can notice hugh difference. I havent test the battery life yet. But i'm sure the battery life also increase as well.

If you want to buy this ssd, can buy from this forumer

After buying 1000H, asus a8jn would be desktop pc, too heavy  to carry around.

I got a 12.1 notebook, but  about to go into semi retirement as desktop.

haha my asus a8jn is 14.1 inch...i am sick of unplugging my many wires (as you can see i have a secondary monitor) when i want to bring my laptop to uni...and its so heavy...now i can just put my eee into my bag... rclxms.gif

you can try logitech v450 nano. Seems to be the perfect match for any EEE(in my case at least)
